Mile High Summer Jazz Camp prepares June 7-13 run in Carson City

Mile High Jazz Band Association, in cooperation with Carson Middle School, presents a five-day Jazz Camp with sessions for middle- and high-school musicians, weekdays June 7-13, in the band room at Carson Middle School, 1140 W. King St., in Carson City. Beginning and advanced sessions are open to students from Carson City and surrounding areas in northern Nevada and California.

Elks Host Fishing Derby

This year our venue is again returning to Davis Creek Regional Park in Washoe County, NV. because this event coincides with Nevada's Free Fishing Day, no licenses will be needed. The group will meet at the Lakeview group picnic area.

Carson City Fire Department: Use Caution Near the Water’s Edge

Visitors and residents should be very careful on the riverbanks and along streams. Almost every year Carson City responders are involved in a swift water rescue. If you see someone fall into the river do not attempt to swim after them please call 911. Typically a current less than 5 mph is enough to lose control and be swept away.
