Harry Reid may have to change his tone on gun control

And although the Nevada native has welcomed the call by President Barack Obama to respond to the Newtown, Conn., massacre with action, Reid has yet to endorse — or even utter the phrase — “gun control.”
'Fiscal cliff' stalemate could end extended unemployment benefits for Nevadans
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 12/28/2012 - 10:40amNearly 25,000 Nevadans have been told their unemployment insurance benefits will end after this week if Congress doesn't act by Tuesday to continue the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation program.
On Jan. 2, the EUC program will expire, unless Congress votes to extend the federal benefits as it has done in the past, said Renee Olson, administrator Employment Security Division of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation Division.

U.S. Congressman Amodei to address Carson City residents

The event begins with a networking session at 8:30 a.m. and Congressman Amodei will begin his address at 9 a.m.
The event is free and will include a continental breakfast courtesy of the Carson Nugget.

The third in the bank’s series of monthly reports prepared in conjunction with local market research firm Applied Analysis focused on charitable giving by Nevadans with a household net worth of at least $1 million.

Submitted by admin on Thu, 12/27/2012 - 9:18amTroopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to and investigated 92 motor vehicle crashes in northern Nevada between 10:00 am yesterday through 6:00 o’clock this morning. 33 crashes involved some sort of injuries while the remaining 59 were property damage only collisions. Most of the crash activity was in the greater Reno-Sparks area with only a handful of crashes reported in the rural parts of northern Nevada. The largest volume of calls for service took place late last night and early this morning.
