Muscle Powered in partnership with Western Nevada Safe Routes to School are hosting a bike rodeo on Saturday Sept. 9, 2023. In years past, Muscle Powered has hosted bike rodeos and we are excited to re-strengthen our partnership with Western Nevada Safe Routes to School to bring back events that teaches kids about bike safety.

Construction at the Comstock Country RV Resort, located at the corner of Carson Street and Old Clear Creek next to Bodine’s Casino, has been ongoing for several months.

Carson City Symphony's comprehensive program of string instruction begins the last week of August at four locations in Carson City. Symphony Youth Strings provides free beginning violin lessons for students grades 2 to 5; a beginning cello program, and ensemble/orchestra experience for string students in all grades.

Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division is asking for the public's help with information and witnesses who may have seen a fatal crash Sunday in Reno involving a pedestrian and three vehicles, two of which left the scene.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board recently approved the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit Chimney Beach Trailhead parking improvement project on Lake Tahoe’s East Shore. The project will help improve safety, reduce roadside parking, and enhance recreation in the popular state Route 28 corridor, the agencies said.

I was harvesting tomatoes on my friend’s plants, with her permission of course, when I noticed there were many stems with no leaves. I immediately thought “Hornworms!”

Sure enough, as I started inspecting the plant closely, I found a three-inch bright green worm clinging to a defoliated stem.

Fall golf tourney will add support to three food pantries across Lyon County

Help “drive out hunger” at the fourth annual Fall Harvest Golf Classic Golf Tournament. The event takes place Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Dayton Valley Golf Club, an Arnold Palmer designed facility. All proceeds benefit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties’ food pantries in Yerington, Silver Springs and Dayton.

UPDATE: The fire at the landfill Sunday afternoon has been extinguished, said Carson City Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini. There were no threats to structures or nearby wildland. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. It started in an area of the landfill where household items are disposed, Pedrini said.

Carson City Fire Department responded Sunday afternoon to a fire reported at the city's landfill in east Carson City.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Sunday afternoon shortly before 1:30 p.m. to a vehicle crash in the area of College Parkway and Lompa Lane.
