Carson City Leisure Hour Club officers installed for 2023-24
Carson City’s oldest continuously meeting social organization, the Leisure Hour Club, installed new officers for the 2023-24 year. Sworn in during the organization’s May meeting by past president Sharron Brewer are:
Ed Schnabel – President, 1st Vice President/Tours – Gary Yoakum, 2nd Vice President/Programs – Gene Munnings, Shelly Harmon - Treasurer, Dan Neverett – Secretary, and Paula Billman as Director-at- Large.
In addition, President Schnabel announced the following appointments for the group’s various chair positions: Friendship – Paula Billman, Reservations – Mary Lee, Raffle – Tia and Tom Healy, Membership – Paula Billman, and newsletter – Dan Neverett.
The Leisure Hour Club was established in September of 1896 and will begin to celebrate its 127th year with its first dinner meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 20. The organization is focused on its goal of promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music and literature. Its motto of "Let knowledge grow from more to more" comes from Tennyson’s poem In Memoriam.
