The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a Reno man who died Sunday in a motorcycle crash on USA Parkway in Lyon County.

RENO — Ten Northern Nevada Special Olympics athletes have earned the honor of representing Special Olympics Nevada at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle.

USA BMX and Carson City BMX has joined forces with the United States Olympic Committee and USA Cycling to offer a free day of BMX racing at participating BMX tracks around the United States in celebration of Olympic Day.

CARSON CITY — Two new ProtoTrak CNC milling machines donated by Trak Machine Tools will expand machining experiences for students enrolled in Western Nevada College’s Machine Tool Technology program.

Reno based Hindu statesman Rajan Zed will deliver the invocations from ancient Sanskrit scriptures before the Senates and Houses of these states. After Sanskrit delivery, he then will read the English interpretation of the prayer. Sanskrit is considered a sacred language in Hinduism and root language of Indo-European languages.

CARSON CITY — Single lane closures will happen this Friday and Saturday on U.S. 50 east of Dayton as the Nevada Department of Transportation paints a cattle guard across the highway to reduce horses entering the roadway.

The CHS NJROTC Orienteering team participated in the California Orienteering Week held March 17-25, and this was the first time CHS has made it this far in competition.

There will be a "March For Our Lives" in Carson City on Saturday, March 24th at 11 a.m. at Mills Park across from the high school. The march will begin at Mills Park, proceed down N. Roop St., west on E. 2nd street, across Stewart onto the State Legislature grounds.

A powerful winter storm arrived in Northwestern Nevada Thursday night, dropping several inches of snow in valley locations throughout the region.
