Quad County COVID-19 Saturday update: 1 Carson City death, 16 new cases, 17 recoveries
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 11/01/2020 - 9:53amCarson City Health and Human Service reported via social media Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020 that there is 1 additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a Carson City resident. We are also reporting 16 new cases and 17 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,870, with 1,678 recoveries and 23 deaths; 169 cases remain active.

To have a more organized and safe Halloween for children, Carson City will again host its "BOOnanza" celebration this Thursday, and the Children's Museum will host a safe trick or treating event Friday.
Some Nevada Day revelers to parade along Carson Street on their own

While not illegal or encouraged, the Carson City Sheriff's Office is staffed up to make sure that whoever chooses to do anything non-sanctioned, including independent parading on Carson Street, that whatever they choose to do is done without breaking the law.

The Class of 2020-2021, while practicing social distancing and wearing the latest fashion in face masks, gathered together at 6:00 a.m. Sept. 4 on the bleachers of the CHS football field to watch their sun rise.

Firefighters respond to brush fire in Washoe Valley near Bowers Mansion

UPDATE 11:07AM: Fire crews on scene have kept the fire from spreading and a helicopter has been called into help fight the fire, according to KOLO. No structures are threatened.

UPDATE 8:40AM: Resources are on scene of a single tree fire in Washoe Valley west of Bowers Mansion. The #BowersFire is a-quarter of an acre in brush and timber and was caused by lightning in the area, according to the U.S. Forest Service. No structures were threatened, fire officials said.
