He’ll perform on the town’s new outdoor stage, the Silver Pavilion, located adjacent to the town community center, known as the School House, at 385 High Street.

He'll offer another of his extraordinary readings at the Silver City School House at 385 High Street on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1pm. James Hoggard, the former poet laureate of Texas, writes,“Lee’s poems will make you laugh till your tears make it impossible to see the page.”

Named one of the 12 greatest writers to ever emerge from the state by Utah Endowment for the Humanities, David Lee was Utah’s first and longest serving poet laureate.

Silver City Post Office Hosts Display on Resident Artist Program

Silver City, Nevada - The Silver City Post Office, established in 1860, has a display case with changing collections that highlight local history as well as current programs.

Display of Work by Visiting Artists: For those who missed a December 2016 show featuring the artwork, essays, poems, assemblages, and photographs created by visiting artists at the Resident Artist Program in Silver City, some of the pieces are on display at the Silver City Post Office through March.

Silver City Small Actions Committee hosts postcard writing event

Artwork by Sophie Scott of New Zealand will be on display at the Nevada State Legislative Building in Carson City during the 2017 Legislative session. Look for it on the third floor near Ways and Means. Sophie’s painting, based on an 1860s photograph of Silver City, was created while she was a resident artist in Silver City in 2015.

This is Peter’s 4th time crossing the U.S. Last year, he traveled across the U.S. interviewing people about the Presidential election, American health care, and other issues and publishing a number of features based on the interviews (find those articles in the Danish newspaper Kristeligt Dagblad and on his own site, A Dane Passed By.)

A powerful winter storm associated with a strong atmospheric river will bring gusty winds and very heavy precipitation to the Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas and deep snow to the upper Sierra tonight through late Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Lyon and Storey Coalition Hosts Speakers from Foster Care Recruitment and Mobile Crisis Response Team

The Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties will have 3 guest speakers for their February breakfast meeting. The meeting is on Thurs February 9th at 9am at the Silver Springs Community Center.

Speakers include Lori Nichols from Foster Care Recruitment, and Sally Hazard from the Fernley office for the Advanced Foster Care Program. They will explain the pressing need for foster homes in the Lyon and Storey County region, and offer ways to help increase the number of foster parents.
