On Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 0910 hours, the Sheriff's Office received a "hold up" alarm from the Nevada State Bank, at 4267 South Carson Street. The suspect was identified as an adult female who showed a handgun to the bank teller. The female presented a demand note, directing the teller to keep her hands where they could be seen and to put the money into a bag. The note also directed the teller to have other tellers move to one side together and keep their hands visible. The demand note read "Any mistakes and I start shooting"

Bank robbery reported at Nevada State Bank on South Carson Street

We have received a report of a bank robbery this morning at the South Carson Street branch of Nevada State Bank. Authorities are looking for a white female subject, late 20s, long brown hair, wearing a dark hoodie, blue jeans and a camo-pattern hat. She was last seen on crossing Snyder Ave. on foot after the robbery. There is also a report that the subject may have left a light blue truck behind after the robbery. Four charged in Reno murder and Carson City robbery spree

After a comprehensive investigation by detectives from the Reno Police Dept. in conjunction with detectives from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, all four defendants have been charged in the murder of Steven Gale, from the morning of May 9th on California Avenue. At about 11:30 p.m. authorities responded to a report of a robbery in the area of Roop and College Parkway where the victim, a pedestrian, said they were robbed at gunpoint by a male suspect of miscellaneous items, reports Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Brian Humphrey.

Sheriff: Reported crimes drop throughout Carson City

Reported crimes in Carson City hit its lowest point during February since the Sheriff’s Office began collecting and analyzing the trends. There were 112 incidences of major crimes, such as homicide, rape, robbery, burglary and theft. There were 122 less severe crimes reported in the community for the same period. In total, the 234 reported crimes is 22 percent less than any monthly rate previously reported since collection began. The previous low for any month was 294 incidences.

—Christopher Glen Hammond, 35, was arrested Saturday evening in the 1900 block of Long Street for misdemeanor DUI, failure to maintain lane, open container and gross misdemeanor child endangerment.

Tea Party gathering and counter-protest planned for this morning

We have word that there will be a Tea Party event at Mills Park at 11 this morning, and that U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle will be making an appearance. There is also supposed to be a counter-protest by Harry Reid supporters. Should be an interesting morning.

Update: Just went by Mills Park, and the Angle event doesn't start until noon. But there's already several dozen Harry Reid supporters lining the highway in front of the park. We'll have some photos of the Angle people once they get up and running with their event.

Carson City man turns himself in after allegedly threatening elderly man with bat, stealing motorcycle

A Carson City man wanted since August by authorities for allegedly wielding a baseball bat and using it to threaten an elderly man after breaking into his home and then stealing a motorcycle, turned himself into police.
Ralph Allen Keith Jr., 24, of Carson City faces four felony charges including robbery against a person 60 years of age or older, home invasion, extortion and grand larceny of a motor vehicle. A warrant for his arrest was issued Sept. 15 for the Aug. 29 crime, by the Justice Court of Carson Township.

A Carson CIty woman is being held on $40,000 bail after allegedly trying to steal $50 at knife-point from a 16-year-old.

Sommer Wesselman, 33, was arrested at Saliman and Highway 50 on Tuesday at about 10:30 p.m. The unemployed woman faces a felony charge of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon.

Man with baseball bat arrested after allegedly breaking into Carson City home

A Carson City man is in jail and an accomplice is at-large after the men, allegedly wielding baseball bats, broke into the home of an elderly man and stole his grandson's motorcycle.

Frederick Joseph Atherton III, 22, was jailed early Sunday morning. He faces felony charges of robbery of a person over 65 years of age, burglary of a person over 65 years of age and home invasion. Bail is $40,000.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Airport Road at 1:49 Sunday morning after two men with baseball bats were seen breaking into an apartment.

Carson City authorities look for Mutual of Omaha Bank robber

A robbery at the Mutual of Omaha bank on North Carson Street in Carson City this afternoon has authorities searching for the suspect, described as wearing a red AC/DC t-shirt and jeans.

The robbery happened at about 12:35 this afternoon, at the bank, located at 1101 North Carson Street. No weapons were seen. The suspect has been described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, wearing blue jeans, a red shirt with AC/DC on it, and a black ball cap.

Truck driver seen gambling confesses phony armed robbery story to Carson City authorities

A truck driver who was seen gambling on Monday at a Carson City supermarket, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of falsely reporting a crime after he told police he was robbed of $1,300 at gunpoint by two black men.

The Phoenix, Ariz., man was arrested early this morning. His bail was set at $632. According to a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy arrest report, officers were dispatched Monday night to the 3000 block of North Carson street for a reported armed robbery at JM Furniture.

Today U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) began using a new biometric information sharing capability in Clark County that helps federal immigration officials identify aliens, both lawfully and unlawfully present in the United States, who are booked into local law enforcement custody for a crime.
The capability is part of Secure Communities, ICE’s comprehensive strategy to improve and modernize the identification and removal of criminal aliens from the U.S.

Carson City deputies arrest man with felony robbery, credit card fraud warrants

A 23-year-old transient was arrested Saturday and faces several charges including warrants for felony robbery, fraudulent use of a credit card, and uttering a fictitious bill.

Christopher Hugh Trappe, was arrested at North Carson and William streets at about 11:25 p.m.
According to the arrest report, deputies working with the Tri-County Gang Unit were dispatched to look for a four-door sedan with unknown Nevada license plates occupied by two men with shaved heads who left the area of Russell Way and Long street, displaying a "red rag" which is used to provoke gang activity.
