Day two of Epic Rides, Carson City Airport's Open House, and more: Events for Saturday, June 29

Good morning Carson City, and happy Saturday! It'll be a bit warmer than yesterday with a high of 86 and a low of 51, and you can expect a bit of a breeze with 13 mph winds.

There's a lot going on today in our beautiful Capital City, with day two of Epic Rides, the Carson City Airport Open House and Wing Cook-off, the farmer's market, a youth expo, and more.

Bike race, airport open house, live reggae and more: Carson City stacked with all-ages weekend events

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area to help the next three days breeze by. There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, plus the Nevada State Museum will host 2 behind the scenes tours in natural history and anthropology. Plus, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road kicks off its three-day event with a Capital 15 Fun Ride and Free Clunker Crit Ride. Heading into the evening, “Newsies” will take stage at the Carson City Community Center and you can sit under the stars and watch “The Little Rascals” at 8 p.m. during movie night at John Mankins Park.

The Epic Rides Off-Road Series is a nationally recognized mountain bike festival featuring endurance racing, music, biking exhibitions and more. The City entered into a five-year agreement with Epic Rides and the Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority regarding the Carson City Off-Road event to be held the third weekend of each June.

Blinky Man hits the streets of Carson City on Summer’s longest day

Blinky Man, the Carson City tradition combining bikes, bars, costumes, and fun hit the capital city’s streets once again Friday night for their “Summer Solstice Ride,” one of their two rides each year.

Participants started at the Tap Shack in festive costumes and bicycles decked in lights, fur, and all manner of decoration, before riding to the Fox, the Feisty Goat, the Pourhouse, and ending the night at Living the Good Life.

Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office hosts 16th annual ‘Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge’ at Mills Park

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office 16th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge was back at Mills Park Thursday.

The training event was open to current certified motor officers and the public for spectating. Motor officers were training, riding and discussing riding techniques with various motor instructors.

Carson City arrests: Man admits he was high on meth when he stole SUV, drove it to Nevada

A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday for felony possession of a stolen vehicle and drug charges after he was found at a gas station filling up his tank, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Careflight called to bicycle accident on Ash Canyon trail Friday

On Friday afternoon just before 1 p.m. Careflight was called to a trail in Ash Canyon behind WNC after a bicyclist was injured.

According to dispatch, the cyclist went over their handlebars while riding and appeared to have neck injuries, as well as chest injuries. They reported the cyclist was having difficulty breathing.

Careflight landed at 1:25 p.m. near the college and the cyclist was transported to Renown.

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. Spring conditions affect Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest roads and trails

Spring is a beautiful time of year to get outdoors and visit the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, except that warm and wet spring weather means roads and trails are often muddy. Walking, horseback riding, biking, or driving on soft and unstable road or trail surfaces can cause long-term damage, while also increasing the risk of getting stuck or slipping.

'Star Wars' themed bicycle event Saturday to benefit Carson City Schools Foundation

A 40 year-old Sparks woman was arrested Friday night for suspicion of felony drug possession and a lesser charge after the vehicle she was driving had been stopped for impeding traffic, a Carson City sheriff's deputy reported.

24-hour ride in Carson City cycles in donations of more than $1,000 for Boys and Girls Club

Indoor cyclists burned at least 2,000 calories and rode about 50 miles within the first 20 minutes at Life Cycle Elite Spin Studio's 24-hour community ride Friday.

The event was organized by Jill Larson, who coordinated with the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Nevada and the Healthy Habits Program.
