Nevada OHV program launches new website for trail enthusiasts

CARSON CITY — A new website, OffRoadNevada.org, offers information about registering off-highway vehicles, which is required in Nevada, and the benefits of registration. The website also provides motorized trail maps and information about the Nevada Commission on Off-Highway Vehicles’ grant program, which funds off-highway vehicle related projects.

Registration for a Basic Rider Course (BRC) - $160, Basic Rider Course II - $85 or the Advanced Rider Course (ARC) $85.

BRC -Learn how to ride a motorcycle in 2 1/2 days & earn your MSF completion card for a Nevada endorsement.

BRC II - This intermediate course has two functions – a license waiver for those who are currently riding or a Skills Waiver to update your skills.

ARC - for students who hold a Class M endorsement & want to hone their skill, understand their risk tolerance, etc.

Breakfast, open house and music this Saturday at Silver Saddle Ranch

The annual spring breakfast and open house at Silver Saddle Ranch is this Saturday. The public is invited. A birdwalk starts the day at 7 a.m., breakfast is served at 9.

Sweethearts of the Sierra will provide music and trails will be open. Muscle Powered will be biking many of the trails and it is a great opportunity to visit the historic Red House.

Historic Sierra snowpack modifies, enhances Carson City Off-Road course

Adapting to a very snowy winter in the northern Sierra Nevada, Epic Rides announced Tuesday a modified course for the Capitol 35 and Capitol 50 events for the 2nd Annual Carson City Off-Road mountain bike festival June 16-18. The Capitol 15 will be unchanged from last year.

Douglas Sheriff's Office: Pair argue, one pushed from vehicle and both decline to press charges

UPDATE 3:13PM: The incident, initially reported to dispatch as a “carjacking” involved two people who recently met and decided to go to Reno together, said Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Bernadette Smith. They got into an argument at the top of Spooner on Highway 50. One was pushed out of the vehicle, got tangled up in the car and received road rash. The other was stopped in Carson City and detained. The person pushed out of the vehicle refused medical treatment. Neither wished to file charges against either other.
