Carson City, Douglas County, the American Cancer Society, and much of the community teamed up Saturday to participate in the 2018 Relay For Life at Mills Park in Carson City.

The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Senator Square: Chamber Orchestra earns gold rating

The CHS Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Brian Fox, is back from its spring trip to the Bay Area. The Chamber Orchestra competed in the Forum Music Festival at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, earning a gold rating from the adjudicators; the top rating.

The weekend has arrived, and it will be an exceptionally long one for the schoolkids of Carson City: spring break begins Monday. There’s a rumor of snowfall for this weekend, but it’s not expected to be too heavy in the valley. Don’t quote me on that, though, I’ve been wrong before. Break a leg to the Douglas students performing in ‘Game of Tiaras’ this weekend; the show sounds hilarious, but be warned, it’s not for kids. Sugar Cookie Open House for Relay for Life

Let us do the baking for your Easter cookies! Buy a dozen sugar cookies and decorate them with our frosting and sprinkles or take them home and decorate.

This event is Saturday, March 24, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.

Perfect if you need to take cookies to an Easter gathering or to your child's school.

One dozen cookies is $10 and all proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life Carson City/Douglas County.

The Ambrose Carson River nature area in on the list for today, so grab some water and sunscreen and enjoy the fresh air. It’s all hands on deck for the Deputy Howell Memorial Music Festival; a meeting for the volunteers is tonight at Battle Born Harley Davidson. Grab your cowboy boots and head out to Carson Lanes for line dance lessons.

Scope out one of Carson City’s neighborhood parks during today’s Easy Walk or participate in something a little more strenuous as Muscle Powered tackles Prison Hill, off Snyder. Kids are encouraged to wear their comfy clothes and bring a favorite stuffed animal during the Carson Library’s weekly Pajama Story Time. The Deputy Howell Memorial Music Festival is quickly approaching, so all volunteers will need to attend tonight’s planning meeting at Harley Davidson.

It will be a 4 person best ball scramble and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. The day will include green fees, cart, lunch, awards, raffle, golfer shirt and goody bag. Tuesday, March 28: Things to do in Carson City

It seems like overnight the crabapples have exploded into bloom. Take advantage of a beautiful day by joining one of the walks organized every Tuesday. An easy walk with Parks and Rec will take you along a portion of the Mexican Ditch Trail today. The Muscle Powered walk in early evening is more strenuous. Fathers will want to get moving if they plan on taking their daughter to the Carson High Father Daughter Dance this Friday. Swing by the High School office between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. for tickets or shoot an email to teacher Angila Golek to make sure they’re waiting at will call.
