The Carson City Sheriff’s Office 16th Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge was back at Mills Park Thursday.

The training event was open to current certified motor officers and the public for spectating. Motor officers were training, riding and discussing riding techniques with various motor instructors.

The 16th annual Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party, hosted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, will be held Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office administration building, 911 East Musser Street.

Public safety, awareness and community are at the center of this popular annual spring event where the theme is “Cops and Kids: Where the Community and Law Enforcement Come Together.”

State Route 207, also known as Kingsbury Grade, will be closed Wednesday morning from Foothill Road on the valley side to Tramway Drive, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
