Carson City arrests: Woman admits to breaking into home to steal prescription drugs

A 32-year-old woman was arrested early Monday for suspicion of burglary after admitting that she broke into a residence to steal prescription drugs, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Martha Marisela Rojas-Larios was taken into custody at 2:52 a.m. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a residence on Continental Drive regarding suspicious circumstances. Deputies arrived and met with Rojas-Larios, who said there was an intruder at a neighbor's home near her mother's residence, and that she went to investigate, going into the home, in which she said she tried to wake the neighbor up, and was hit with a golf club.

She told deputies she dropped a cell phone and got on her hands and knees to locate the phone and then was able to get out of the residence.

Deputies interviewed the neighbor who said that she woke up to the sound of a cell phone ringing and saw Rojas-Larios on her hands and knees inside her bedroom at the foot end of her bed.

Due to the conflicting stories, Rojas-Larios was read her Miranda rights and agreed to speak. After further interview, Rojas-Larios confessed that she climbed through her neighbor's front window into the residence with the intent to take the woman's prescription pills, the report said.

She stated she was mad at the victim because the victim kept accusing her of stealing her prescription pills in the past, according to the arrest report. Rojas-Larios stated she crawled into the victim's bedroom and was using her cell phone screen light to direct her. She stated her cell phone rang because her mother had called her.

She stated when the cell phone rang, the victim woke up. Rojas-Larios stated she wanted to take the victim's prescription pills for retaliation of being accused of stealing the victim's prescription pills.

Rojas-Larios was arrested for suspicion of felony burglary. Bail: $25,000.

In other arrests:
— A 38-year-old Carson City man, Anselmo Gallegos-Velazquez, was arrested Sunday, 10:50 p.m. in the area of Woodside and Airport streets for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor DUI.

Deputies were called to the area for a report of a single vehicle accident, according to the arrest report. Dispatch advised the driver of the vehicle was possibly intoxicated. Deputies arrived and met with the driver who was sitting on the sidewalk, and a security officer, who witnessed the driver crashing into a ditch.

Deputies made contact with the driver, who had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath, red watery eyes and slurred speech. He was asked if he needed medical attention. The man declined. He was asked if he would submit to field sobriety tests and he agreed. He was asked if he had consumed any alcohol. The man said he consumed four beers. He showed signs of impairment and was arrested.

He was taken to the hospital for medical clearance because he was in an accident and agreed to submit evidentiary blood tests. Once medically cleared he was taken to jail where officers located a small baggie containing cocaine. A deputy asked him what it was in the bag and the man stated it was cocaine, according to the arrest report. Bail: $3,637.

— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 6:20 p.m. at a Long Street residence for suspicion of two counts domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a residence and spoke with the victims, the man's wife and the suspect's father. Deputies learned the man was attempting to fight with both, pointing a finger in the woman's face touching her nose, swinging his arms, then allegedly chest bumping his father multiple times.

During the course of the investigation, the deputy determined the 36-year-old man to be the primary aggressor and he was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail amount listed: $6,274.

— A 38-year-old Carson City woman, Erin Elaine Mason, was arrested Saturday in the area of Woodside Drive for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report a deputy made contact with the rider of a bicycle who was traveling into oncoming traffic, with cars having to move over to avoid her. The officer asked for her ID. The woman provided a driver's license. She consented to a search of a her person in which a hypodermic needle was found. She admitted to having a needle on her person and said there was blood, water and methamphetamine in the syringe. The syringe was tested and showed positive for methamphetamine. She was arrested. Bail: $3,632.

— A 21-year-old man was arrested Saturday, 7:15 p.m. in the area of East William and Russel Way for two contempt of court warrants and driving on a suspended license. The warrants were issued in June 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,262.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was booked for misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence after he submitted to a preliminary breath test that yielded a result of .221. Carson City Alternative Sentencing advised the man was in violation of conditions, which included a "no alcohol" clause. Bail: $1,000.

— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 8:12 p.m. in the area of Roop and East William Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, speeding and not having a motorcycle license.

According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a motorcycle speeding, going 50 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the rider and advised him of why he was stopped. The deputy could smell alcohol on the man's breath. The deputy asked if the man had any alcohol and he said no.

The deputy asked for the man's license and registration and insurance. He provided the deputies with the documents where it was learned he did not have a motorcycle license endorsement. The deputy asked the man if he would perform field sobriety tested and the man agreed and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath sample of .249 and was arrested. He consented to an evidentiary blood test at jail. Bail: $1,327.

— An 80-year-old transient was arrested Saturday, 2:35 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued April 25, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

On May 15th, 2024, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Angela Street in Fernley, Nev., reference a caller who reported that he had murdered his mother. The caller additionally provided that he barricaded himself inside the house, was armed with a rifle, and had planted pipe bombs at the residence.

On a sunny Saturday morning, 100 volunteer participants fanned out across Lake Tahoe’s South Shore to take water quality samples from 34 streams, creeks, ponds, and lakes to monitor the health of the Truckee River watershed and Lake Tahoe as part of the 24th annual Snapshot Day. They were joined by teams doing the same tests simultaneously in other regions of the watershed.

Just before noon on Tuesday a crash with injuries was reported on the I-580 on ramp from N. Carson Street.

According to dispatch there are two vehicles involved, one of which was towing a trailer.

Injuries have been reported and the number two lane is blocked.

Traffic cameras show vehicles are moving slowly but are able to get through to Washoe Valley.

Motorists must use caution in the area.
