Moriarty takes Men's Club honors at Carson City's Silver Oak

Michael Moriarty took low gross honors with a 74 as the Sunday Men’s Club kicked off its season March 22 at Silver Oak Golf Course. The season was delayed because of bad weather the week prior, and play was in accordance with mandated health precautions.

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. Carson City man arrested on warrants for alleged assault with machete, firearms

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 4000 block of Furnace Creek Road on five felony warrants including three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of domestic battery with a deadly weapon.

According to the arrest report, Michael Craig Henson Jr. was arrested on the original crime, which involved the use o a firearm and machete.

The Virginia City Silent Riders are a group of volunteers who represent the western frontier which was often a dangerous and lawless place. When justice needed to be served, there wasn't always a Sheriff and Judge. Instead, there were honorable and righteous men and women who stepped in to deliver swift justice. These groups were known as 'vigilance committees', and they existed across the west.

Carson City deputies arrest man for possession of stolen moving truck, secret methamphetamine pipe

A 32-year-old Minden man was arrested in the area of Sonoma and Frontage Road for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the report, deputies ran a records check on an Arizona license plates and deputies advised the vehicle was stolen out of Reno.

Trio jailed for meth trafficking, drugs found in vehicle at Carson City parole and probation

Three were arrested Wednesday by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team for suspicion of drug trafficking after a vehicle search at the Department of Parole and Probation led to the discovery of 14.9 grams of methamphetamine.
