A 72-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday night for misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence, no financial responsibility, no registration certificate, and failure to yield right of way to pedestrian.

Creative teens from Carson City, Lyon and Douglas counties have been selected to receive Scholastic Art Awards in the first round of the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards featuring young artists throughout Northern Nevada. 

On Monday, Feb. 5, the Nevada Department of Transportation will begin preliminary utility work as part of an upcoming project to install a traffic signal on U.S. 395 at Airport Road and improve other highway intersections in the Carson Valley.

Cellist Clive Greensmith, former cellist of the legendary Tokyo String Quartet and a longtime Nevada Chamber Music Festival favorite, makes his first Reno Chamber Orchestra appearance. He is featured in the Rococo Variations by Tchaikovsky, the lovely “Minstrel’s Song” by Alexander Glazunov, and Lukas Foss’s Capriccio. Also on the program are works by Mozart and Bizet.

CARSON CITY — As the number of families in Nevada being affected by bedbugs continues to increase, eight University of Nevada Cooperative Extension offices across the state will offer a free program Feb. 21 aimed at providing the most recent research-based information on prevention, detection and control measures.

A Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony methamphetamine trafficking and drug possession charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday for two counts suspicion of felony battery by a prisoner and misdemeanor battery after allegedly fighting at a casino and then spitting and kicking Carson City deputies after she was arrested.

Two from Carson City were recognized recently in Las Vegas for their contributions to a statewide art contest to raise recycling awareness.

The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] announces its faculty exhibition, "Inspirations", at the Community Development Building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. The Brick is open to the public daily, 8am – noon, 1-4pm. The exhibition will remain in the building’s lobby exhibition space from October 23, 2017 through January 11, 2018. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Wednesday, November 15, 5-7pm in the Brick.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Family on Saliman welcomes you to their annual Craftique Open House. You’ll find the Young at Heart Seniors Club hosting a faire at the Douglas County Community Center. The Carson Nugget’s Sierra Room will be home to several artisans, vendors, and crafters during today’s wine walk. A Carson City alcohol compliance check on Friday conducted among 24 local businesses that sell alcohol resulted in 22 merchants that refused to sell alcohol to a 16-year-old female used in the operation and two businesses that failed the check.

The Nevada State Honor Guard as well as the Las Vegas Firefighters Local 1285 Pipe and Drum Corps opened services Saturday morning at the Nevada State Firefighters Memorial in Mills Park to honor two Las Vegas area firefighters who died in the line of duty last year.

Plaques bearing the names of two Las Vegas area firefighters who died last year in the line of duty will be added at the Nevada Firefighters' Memorial in Carson City on Oct. 14.

Two men were arrested on charges following a traffic stop Friday night in the area of Anderson and William streets, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for three counts suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of property, a misdemeanor warrant and minor consuming alcohol, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

With a Pacific Northern Division-leading record of 55-38, the Reno Aces looked to conclude the four-game home-stand against the El Paso Chihuahuas with a win, tying the series at 2-2.
