Fight at Carson City apartment lands biological brothers in jail
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 06/24/2014 - 9:59amTwo brothers were arrested on misdemeanor charges early Tuesday at a motel apartment in the 200 block of West Caroline Street after fighting with each other, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers were called to the motel at 2:24 a.m. When they arrived they could hear yelling coming from a third floor. Officers met with one of the men, age 56, standing in front of the room and observed another man, who had blood streaming from his nose, inside the room.
Carson City man identified in airplane crash last week near Lake Mead

Noy will present an illustrated lecture on unusual and lesser-known stories of Sierra Nevada history, with a special focus on Lake Tahoe and Western Nevada events and personalities.
The presentation is based upon material from his book Sierra Stories: Tales of Dreamers, Schemers, Bigots and Rogues (Heyday and Sierra College Press, 2014), which will be available for sale and signing.
Western Nevada College graduates record number of students at spring 2014 commencements

Also on Monday, the WNC nursing program graduates celebrated with a traditional pinning ceremony at the Carson Nugget. Dr. Tom Kubistant, a WNC psychology and communications instructor, delivered the Carson City ceremony commencement address.

Donald Morris Jr., 55, who lives in the Round Hill subdivision of Zephyr Cove, was last seen April 20, 2014 by his landlord, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks.

Two Carson City men jailed on multiple felony charges following burglary, vehicle chase

Jacob Andrew Pacheaco, 27, and Danny Maxfield Jr., 37, were arrested separately, with Maxfield jumping out of a moving vehicle, suffering injuries which required him to go the hospital.

Steven Gilbert Castro Jr., 20, was arrested in Yuba City, Calif., Tuesday where he is facing a felony charge of being a material witness avoiding testimony. Castro also faces a misdemeanor charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence out of Carson City Justice Court. That was filed Dec. 31, 2013.
