The third year of TedxCarson City brought discussions to the community, by the community, ranging in topics from exploring new sounds in classical music traditions, to computer hacking, to ending the cycle of poverty, and many more.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto toured the Carson Tahoe Health Mallory Behavioral Crisis Center this past Saturday, March 16.

“The senator sought us out because she was eager to know more about our mental health approaches,” says Christina Sapien, Behavioral Health Services Director. “Essentially, we have a facility for people in mental health and substance use crisis, which is a really innovative model. The Senator wanted to better understand how we’re leading the way in mental health and what our challenges are going forward.”

CARSON CITY — The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to introduce a new initiative — The Community Fund — established to serve as a resource for patients and families facing financial hardship, who might not otherwise seek the medical treatment they need and deserve.

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Health is proud to announce the addition of direct anterior hip replacement surgery to its surgical capabilities, allowing patients the option for a minimally-invasive procedure with a quick recovery time.

Supposedly, spring is less than two weeks away. As I sit here looking at the snow on the mountains and in the yard, I’m finding it hard to gear up my brain to think spring gardening thoughts. In some years, daffodils and forsythias would already be blooming. Instead, these cheery harbingers of spring have been delayed by lingering snow.

Heading into the home stretch that is Friday, March 8, 2019 we welcome you to the end of the work week. More spring-like weather is ahead, which isn't exactly all sunshine and flowers. CARSON CITY — The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently announced that Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has achieved a 4-star rating for an acute care hospital, out-ranking the national average of 3-stars.

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Health’s Board of Directors appointed Alan Garrett as the new Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2019, replacing Ed Epperson who retired Dec. 31, 2018. A seasoned healthcare executive with diverse experience and a progressive leadership style, Garrett will assume day-to-day control of the Carson Tahoe Health system.

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Health is pleased to announce the generous multi-year pledge of $800,000, by the Mallory Foundation to allow for expansion of Carson Tahoe’s Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center, more than doubling the center’s capacity for treatment.

Future Farmers of America provided the venue, Carson High School students voted with their hard earned dollars, and AP Environment and Honors Biology teacher Cort Roseleip was chosen to kiss a goat. Readers must take a look at the photo above to fully comprehend the magnitude of this event.

Diabetes can seem overwhelming, but with education and support from family, friends and others with diabetes, you can live a healthy life. The group will meet in Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, 1470 Medical Pkwy, Suite 250 in Carson City, every 2nd Thursday of the month beginning Jan. 10 and running to April 11, from 5 to 6 p.m.

Good day Carson City, it is Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. It is also Election Day. Polls in Nevada open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, enjoy another day of sunny skies with a hike, brisk walk or bike ride around town. There's both a morning and evening hike offered through Muscle Powered or you can simply walk through downtown Carson City and alongside the capitol building. Also featured today are activities that promote diabetes awareness through Carson Tahoe Health, numerous art showings, local political party election night events and a classic film being shown at the Brewery Arts Center.
