Nevada Northern Regional Behavioral Health Policy Board gains new chair Taylor Allison

The Nevada Northern Regional Behavioral Health Policy Board elected Taylor Allison, executive director of Partnership Douglas County, as their new chair on Feb. 26.

“Our board is comprised of 13 passionate individuals focusing on a common goal,” Allison said. “Together, we can move the needle and help improve the lives of patients and families in Northern Nevada.”

CycleNation returns to Northern Nevada to Support The American Heart Association, American Stroke Association

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association presents the third annual Northern Nevada CycleNation on June 4 at Reno City Plaza. The fundraiser begins at 5:30 p.m. and will include food trucks, yard games, and music. The stationary bike sunset ride begins at 6 p.m. and lasts for two hours. CycleNation is nationally sponsored by Amgen and is locally sponsored by Carson Tahoe Health.

Carson Tahoe Health unveils first ever ‘Karma Boxes’ to help those in need

Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) is unveiling several “Karma Boxes” (wooden/Plexiglas donation cabinets) at its various locations to house toiletries, first-aid items, and nonperishable foods for those in need, all available at any time and at no cost.

This simple, yet powerful concept is best summed up by its slogan, “If it’s empty, fill it. If you need it, it’s yours.”

Carson City community radio KNVC 95.1 continues to grow as it enters third year on the air

Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.

WNC nursing program ranked 'Best in West' by online career, education website

Recognition has come frequently to Western Nevada College’s Nursing Program from a variety of sources during the past year. The biggest one arrived last Wednesday when Nursing Process selected WNC’s program as No. 1 in the West Region, which encompasses 426 nursing schools, thereby making it one of the nation’s top programs.

Carson Tahoe Health is pleased to announce Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center was recognized Thursday, Jan. 9 for its diligent efforts in advocacy, community connections, and support for those experiencing a mental health and, or substance use crisis. The 31st annual Human Services Awards named Mallory Behavioral Health Crisis Center Agency of the Year.

Carson Tahoe Health, Rotary of Carson City celebrate Labyrinth anniversary and partnership

Wednesday marks 13 years since the opening of the outdoor Labyrinth located at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center. The unique space was made possible through a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Carson City.

In 2006, under the leadership of past president Rafael Cappucci, the Rotary Club contributed $75,000 to build the Labyrinth, and gave another $200,000 in support of the Cancer Center project over a four-year period.
