Whitewater boating on the Carson River

Carson City officially opened Morgan Mill Road River Access Area today with a ribbon cutting and a whitewater float down the Carson River to Dayton.

Those who braved the cold temps were treated to a wild ride down the swollen river. Check out the video:

V&T Railroad offers $5 Friday discount

CARSON CITY — In an effort to attract local riders and welcome the opening of the 2010 season, the Virginia & Truckee Railroad is offering $5 off adult tickets on all Friday train rides. The discount is available on adult tickets, May 29 through June 25, providing an affordable, $24 round trip voyage on a vintage diesel train between Carson City and Virginia City.

Lots of road construction slated for next week

Various road construction projects will be causing delays and closures next week, with some working continuing even longer.

The Nevada Department of Transportation will begin work to add a third northbound lane on US 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive. The following activity is expected for this project.

Officials to cut ribbon on first-ever Carson River whitewater rafting, kayaking facilities

Carson City and Lyon County officials will cut the ribbon May 22 to ceremonially launch new boating facilities for whitewater rafting and kayaking that have opened on the Carson River Aquatic Trail between Carson City and Dayton.
