Carson City man faces misdemeanor domestic battery charge
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 09/04/2013 - 11:03amA 21-year-old Carson City man faces a misdemeanor domestic battery charge after allegedly hitting his fiance with a water bottle, pouring water on her and shoving her to the ground.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the 1100 block of Woodside Drive at around 8 a.m. regarding a domestic dispute.

On Sept. 7 you will be able to fish wherever you like without the need for a fishing license. However remember that you will need to abide by the rules and regulations that govern whatever water(s) you will be fishing.
Be sure to obey those rules and regulations, and don’t do something illegal. If you do, and if you get caught, it could be a very expensive experience.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (http://www.ndow.org) reports:
Fishing varies from day to day, with some days being good, while others being slow. Best time of day is from about 6:00 am to 10:30 am and then again after the shadows start to hit the water in late afternoon.
Best conditions seem to be with a 5 to 10 mph breeze, putting a small chop on the water.
A few fish are being taken with small dry flies, mostly yellow in color, but most of the luck is still coming with nymphs below an indicator or dry fly.

July 6 is one of two Free Fishing Days in California
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 07/06/2013 - 9:02amCalifornia has two Free Fishing Days in 2013 which are close to holidays. The first Free Fishing Day in 2013 is today, July 06 (associated with the Fourth of July) and the second is on September 07 (associated with Labor Day).
So, on Saturday, July 6, you will be able to fish wherever you like in California, without the need for a fishing license.
However, you will need to abide by the rules and regulations that govern whatever water(s) you will be fishing.
Public canoe trips at Lahontan State Recreation Area in July and August

Free public canoe trips in July and August guided by Lahontan State Recreation Area will start just below the Lahontan Dam along the Carson River and go down to the Irrigation Diversion Dam.
The route is relatively flat and is ideal for beginners learning the basics of canoeing. Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided, but participants will need to bring sun block and drinking water. Space is limited. Reserve your canoe ride by calling (775) 577-2226.
Carson City felony arrests include probation violation; battery by a prisoner
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 07/02/2013 - 11:37amA 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning and faces a felony charge of being in violation of conditions set in his parole and probation.
Brian Angel-Ramirez is being held without bail until a court hearing. According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, deputies were sent to the area of Goni and Arrowhead at 11:31 p.m. in reference to a person passed out in the roadway.
Fire restrictions for Western Nevada begin today

V&T Railroad season kicks off with Mother's Day train

Suspects in Nevada insurance examiner murder appear in Carson City court
Submitted by editor on Thu, 04/25/2013 - 8:51pmThe four suspects accused of murdering state employee William McCune appeared in a Carson City courtroom on Thursday.
23-year-old Michael Evans, 20-year-old Makyla Blackmore, 22-year-old Raul Garcia and 20-year-old Anthony Elliott appeared in court for a status hearing.
Prosecutors say the four beat McCune to death, robbed his apartment and disposed of his duct-taped body in the Carson River. He was positively identified by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office through dental and medical x-rays.

On Saturday, April 27 the 2013 fishing season will open for all applicable lakes, reservoirs, streams, creeks and rivers in the State of California.
That season will then remain open until Friday, Nov. 15.
