Two arrested for meth trafficking after parking in front of a 'No Parking' sign

A 47-year-old Carson City man and a 29-year-old Carson City woman were arrested early Monday morning on the charges of felony trafficking of a schedule one controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman also had an additional charge of violating her suspended sentence.

Closure and delay report for greater Carson City area on Tuesday, Feb. 5

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has ordered all state offices in Carson City, Douglas and Washoe counties to open at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The Carson City Mayor and City Manager have ordered a 10 a.m. delayed opening for municipal offices.

Carson City schools are closed today. There will be no student activities, including after-school and evening programs, practices or contests. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health.

All Carson Valley schools in Douglas County are operating on a 90-minute delay.

Douglas County lake schools are closed.

Gardnerville man killed in plane crash was owner of Kim Lee's Sushi in Carson City

A Gardnerville man killed while piloting his plane in Southern California Sunday has been identified as Antonio "Tony" Pastini, owner of Kim Lee's Sushi and Teriyaki in downtown Carson City.

The crash in a Yorba Linda, CA, neighborhood killed Pastini and four residents of a home that the aircraft had crashed into.

Carson City schools closed Tuesday, district web site says

The Carson City School District web site, carsoncityschools.com, has posted a notice that schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 5.

"All Schools in Carson City will be closed for the entire day Tuesday, Feb. 5 due to winter-related conditions. All employees, students and teachers should remain home.

"No student activities or programs will occur. This includes after-school programs, practices, performances and contests including interscholastic athletic events. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health will be provided."

NHP, REMSA and Truckee Meadows fire on scene of I-580 rollover in Washoe Valley

Carson City firefighter-paramedics were initially called to assist with a two-vehicle rollover accident that occurred Monday afternoon in the southbound lanes of Interstate 580 at the Bellevue overpass in Washoe Valley.

However, the Carson City units were recalled while en route. There is no extrication at the scene of the accident, according to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District rescuers on scene.

Nevada Highway Patrol, Truckee Meadows Fire and REMSA are currently on scene working the accident. No word yet on the extent of any injuries.

City offices close early in Carson City

Heavy snowfall and hazardous road conditions have led the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City to close city offices early Monday.

"Due to the inclement weather and dangerous road conditions, the City Manager and Mayor have decided to close all City offices and allow City employees (other than essential public safety personnel) to leave at 2 p.m. today Monday, Feb. 4," city officials said in an announcement.

The Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday night has been canceled, according to the city web site.

Nevada Gov. Sisolak closes state offices in Carson City

All state offices in Carson City are closing early because of inclement Winter weather, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak Tweeted at 1:34 p.m. Monday.

"Due to inclement weather and potentially dangerous road conditions reported by Nevada DOT and Nevada DPS in the Carson City/Reno area, I've ordered all state government offices to be closed effective 1:30 p.m. in Carson City," the governor Tweeted. "Safety and well-being of state employees are of my utmost concern."

Carson City emergency crews respond to multiple accidents on U.S. Highway 50 East

Carson City firefighter-paramedics and Sheriff's deputies are responding to two motor vehicle accidents within a half-mile of each other on U.S. Highway 50 East.

One, a two-vehicle crash, was located at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Airport Road. The vehicles involved have since been moved into the Dollar General parking lot.

A second two-vehicle accident, a collision, is located at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Fairview Drive.

Two victims are complaining of chest pain and difficulty breathing. Another is complaining of possible broken bones.

Weather forces early closure of Western Nevada College campuses in Carson City, Minden

Inclement Winter weather has forced the early closure of Western Nevada College campuses in Carson City and Minden, the college said.

Both campuses closed at 1 p.m. Monday.

The WNC Fallon campus will remain open for classes.

A 30 year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday morning at 8:50 a.m. in the 2000 block of West College Parkway for misdemeanor violation of a temporary protection order (TPO) and resisting an officer, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Nevada State Legislature's 80th session begins with a welcoming Carson City snowfall

On Monday, the 80th session of the Nevada State Legislature began with a welcoming snowfall, which is expected to continue until Tuesday morning.

This session marks the first time in U.S. history that state has elected a female-majority legislature after Rochelle Thuy Nguyen and Beatrice Angela Duran were appointed to two open seats in Las Vegas, bringing the total seats held by women to 33 out of 63.

NV Energy reports outages in Lakeview Estates area of Northwest Carson City

About 170 NV Energy customers are without power in the Lakeview Estates area of Northwest Carson City Monday morning after reported equipment failure at two outage points, NV Energy reported.

The outages, one in the area of Lakeview and Combs Canyon roads and a second on Hobart Road, occurred around 9 a.m. Monday morning.

Estimated time of power restoration is 11:45 a.m. Monday, NV Energy reported.

The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) presents its exhibition, "The Felt Works," by artist Svea Ferguson at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery.

Winter Storm Warning in effect now through Tuesday for Carson City area, region

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Carson City area and greater Reno-Tahoe region in effect now until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Heavy snowfall is forecast for the greater Reno, Carson City and Minden area with total accumulation between 6-12 inches. Up to two feet of snow is forecast for elevations above 5,000 feet.
