Tire-chain requirement change for enhanced safety on certain Tahoe state roads

The Nevada Department of Transportation is reminding motorists of traction device requirement changes on certain Tahoe-area highways which require two-wheel drive vehicles to also use approved tire chains/traction devices during winter chain restrictions.

Carson City School Board February meeting to discuss funding changes, policy, and more

The February meeting of the Carson City School Board will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12 in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

The meeting will be called to order at 6:30 p.m.

18-year-old arrested after battering mother, said she wouldn't give him money to go to Reno

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1400 block of Camille Drive Wednesday evening for first-offense domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

Deputies responded to the residence on a report of domestic battery, in which the 18-year-old allegedly struck his mother.

Kermet Apio was the winner of the 2009 Great American Comedy Festival and has had numerous appearances on television and radio. He has showcased at comedy festivals in Aspen, Las Vegas, and Vancouver and has performed in 47 states and three Canadian provinces. He is a past winner of the Seattle Comedy Competition and was a semi-finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition.

NV Energy reports power outage in Carson City, over 100 affected

NV Energy is reporting a power outage in Carson City near Highway 50 and Roop Street.

As of 11 am, 119 people are without power, according to their website.

Man arrested again for trespassing at the Carson City Mall

A 66-year-old transient man was arrested at the Carson Mall Tuesday afternoon after harassing customers and staff members.

Deputies were dispatched to the mall on the report of a trespasser who was known to both deputies and mall staff. He had been trespassed numerous times previously, and received a citation less than a week prior at the mall for trespassing.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for assistance in identifying possible suspects in a vehicle burglary that occurred in Carson City and subsequent credit card fraud that occurred in Douglas County.

Martinez-Guzman to face preliminary hearing Friday in Carson City

Wilber Martinez-Guzman, the Carson City man suspected of murdering four people in Reno and Gardnerville, is set for a preliminary hearing at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Carson City Justice court to face 36 counts of felony weapons charges, burglary charges, possession of stolen items and immigration charges. He also faces murder charges in Washoe County, but a court hearing has not been set yet.

Carson Kids Dental ribbon-cutting Tuesday rescheduled due to weather

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce has canceled Tuesday night's ribbon-cutting at Carson Kids Dental, a new dental office in Carson City.

The event has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28 from 5-6 p.m. Ribbon will be cut at 5:30 p.m.

Wine and cheese will be served.
