UPDATE 5:35PM: The Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad has removed what turned out to be a plastic baggie that contained 5 to 6 blasting caps, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Brian Mays. The explosives were brought to the parking lot area of College Parkway and Goni by a person who found them. Law enforcement was notified. All caution tape has been brought down and business has resumed back to normal, said Mays. The blasting caps will be detonated by the bomb squad at a secure location.

Additional resources were en route to the scene of a reported brush fire there, but they have since been recalled and the brush engine is handling mop-up.

UPDATE: 12:24PM: Traffic control has been lifted in the areas of the gas leaks. Southwest Gas is on scene at Forrest Way and firefighters are on stand-by at South Lompa Lane awaiting the gas company.

The Carson City Fire Department was dispatched late Friday morning at around 11:45 a.m. to a reported natural gas leak at a residence in the 1600 block of Forrest Way.

Then at about 11:55 a.m., a second gas leak was reported to dispatch at a residence in the 2400 block of South Lompa Lane.

Duck Hill Fire north of Carson City in Goni Canyon, Eastlake area 50 percent contained

UPDATE 2:22PM: The Duck Hill Fire north of Carson City above Eastlake is around 50 percent contained, according to KRNV News 4. Carson City fire crews have returned to their stations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department has sent a brush team for structure protection due to a fast moving wildfire that began late Sunday morning in Palomino Valley northwest of Spanish Springs in Washoe County.

UPDATE: 10:50AM: Carson City firefighters on scene have investigated visible smoke behind a residence in the 3200 block of Banjo Court, and have determined the flames have been knocked down by area residents.
The burned area is estimated at about 60-by-20 feet in size. Fire crews are now mopping up the fire area.
NV Energy is also being dispatched to the scene. Firefighters on scene report trees in the area appear to be interfering with electrical lines.
