16th Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival opens Friday at Bliss, Governor's Mansion

The free event includes live music, art, food, and tours of the Bliss Mansion.

King St. The concert was originally planned for Comma Courtyard, but the performers want to present the event in a comfortable and healthy atmosphere.

This list of happenings in the Carson City area isn’t getting any shorter. The annual Genoa Candy Dance is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and this weekend welcomes the first ever Silver State Arts Festival at Fuji Park, as well. The first ever Community Garage Sale at the Community Center offers one-stop bargain hunting. Swing into the season at the monthly dance party hosted by the High Sierra Swing Dance Club.

Glen Eagles welcomes back the Regional Chili Cook-off this weekend; get your fill of some amazing grub and help raise funds for Honor Flight Nevada. Admittance to the bohemia isn’t free, though. You need to buy a $380 ticket. Now, some Democratic legislative leaders are looking at the ticket proceeds and wondering why the state doesn’t get a cut.
