Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

Hello fellow anglers. Sorry I have been away for a couple weeks, had to catch up on a few things in order to start fishing again. The fishing is getting good all over our area. Before we get to our fishing report, let us remember that while we are out camping, we have to abide by some simple rules. There are no campfires allowed outside of designated campgrounds.

Missing Dayton man identified after body discovered near Carson River

The identity of a man found April 24 along the Carson River in Dayton has been identified and was a man reported missing last year, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the decedent was in fact a missing person, who was identified as 34-year-old Dayton resident, Frank Greene.

Carson City Parks and Rec hosts May 'Hike into History' walk along the Carson River

Join Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space for an easy, two-hour long hike along the Carson River to learn about how the area's early homesteads defined the high desert environment we know today.

This guided hike will be held on Saturday, May 25, beginning at 10 a.m. Go here to sign up.

Carson City Parks and Rec hosts Watershed Hike, discusses upcoming educational events

This past Saturday, a group of passionate hikers braced the wind at Riverview Park for the Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department’s second annual Watershed Walk.

Fluvial Geomorphologist Lynn Zonge and CWSD Watershed Program Specialist Shane Fryer shared their extensive knowledge of the Carson River Watershed with the group.

Great Horned Owls at the Carson River

A late Thursday afternoon walk this week along the Carson River in Carson City found a mating pair of Great Horned Owls in a giant cottonwood tree just east of the river bank.

Dayton man missing, Lyon County Sheriff's Office asks for public's help finding him

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau asked for the public's help on Thursday in locating a Dayton man who has been missing since October.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City hosted its Safe Halloween Celebration on Sunday, October 28. There was trick or treating as well as spooky Halloween crafts for kids and their parents.
