Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days, including the Carson City Fair, Karson Kruzers Run What Cha Brung car show, a fundraiser bike ride, cooking classes, tours at the Nevada State Museum, train rides on Saturday and much more!

Hello fellow anglers. Sorry I have been away for a couple weeks, had to catch up on a few things in order to start fishing again. The fishing is getting good all over our area. Before we get to our fishing report, let us remember that while we are out camping, we have to abide by some simple rules. There are no campfires allowed outside of designated campgrounds.

Midweek, here we come! Heading into Wednesday, July 17, 2019 and we're looking at another sunshine-filled day full of activities including Trails 4 Tails at Riverview Park, an open house at Carson City's Foreman-Roberts House Museum, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center with a showing of "Monster's University" to follow and more. As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

The identity of a man found April 24 along the Carson River in Dayton has been identified and was a man reported missing last year, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the decedent was in fact a missing person, who was identified as 34-year-old Dayton resident, Frank Greene.

Join Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space for an easy, two-hour long hike along the Carson River to learn about how the area's early homesteads defined the high desert environment we know today.

This guided hike will be held on Saturday, May 25, beginning at 10 a.m. Go here to sign up.

This past Saturday, a group of passionate hikers braced the wind at Riverview Park for the Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department’s second annual Watershed Walk.

Fluvial Geomorphologist Lynn Zonge and CWSD Watershed Program Specialist Shane Fryer shared their extensive knowledge of the Carson River Watershed with the group.

A late Thursday afternoon walk this week along the Carson River in Carson City found a mating pair of Great Horned Owls in a giant cottonwood tree just east of the river bank.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau asked for the public's help on Thursday in locating a Dayton man who has been missing since October.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City hosted its Safe Halloween Celebration on Sunday, October 28. There was trick or treating as well as spooky Halloween crafts for kids and their parents.

DAYTON, Nev. — Join park staff for a program about wildlife living along the Carson River. Participants will take a short walk next to the river to look for signs of wildlife. A limited number of binoculars and wildlife guides will be available. Please bring water, sun protection, insect repellant, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
