Humane Society holiday adoption finds success in uniting Carson City family with rescued dog
The Nevada Humane Society in Carson City saw another success story as part of its Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive to find homes for 1,000 homeless pets this holiday season.
June is now a member of the Simanovicki family after successfully meeting Lorda on Sunday, also a past placed rescue pet, to see if they liked each other. Lorda is a boxer pitbull mix and June is a terrier pitbull mix.
The two adult dogs do well together and by the end of Sunday, they were united in the Simanovicki home, making for a happy Christmas adoption ending.
Since November the Nevada Humane Society has asked for help in finding homes for 1,000 dogs and cats during the Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive, which continues through Dec. 31.
“With millions of homeless pets across the country, it’s important everyone get involved to help save a life this holiday season,” explained Carrie Brown, Adoption Manager for Nevada Humane Society. “Our team is specially trained and can help families choose just the right pet for their personalities and lifestyles. We’re proud of this campaign and we are dedicated to finding loving homes for the animals so they can experience a happy, new life.”
Adoption fees for Home 4 the Holidays are as follows. All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, services that normally cost over $240. There are also a variety of small animals available for adoption, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats and more.
· Most Adult Dogs: $50
· Adult Cats Under the Age of Five: $25
· Adult Cats Over the Age of Five: FREE
· Kittens $60
· Puppies $200 ($100 rebate offered with a certificate of completion for a puppy training class)
Home 4 the Holidays is a nationwide pet adoption drive that began in 1999. It was created to move animals out of shelters and into good homes during a season of giving and love. Since its inception over 14 million pets have gone home. This year, Nevada Humane Society joins over 4,000 organizations who are coming together to find homes for homeless pets.
Nevada Humane Society is open for adoptions seven days a week at two locations (except for Christmas) from 11 a.. to 6:30 p.m. and an hour earlier at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
