A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony child abuse and domestic battery with a prior conviction after allegedly punching and threatening to kill his wife in front of their three children, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
The suspect was arrested Thursday, 9:52 a.m. in the 200 block of Lisa Way. Carson Now is withholding the name of the man to protect the victim and children. According to the arrest report, deputies arrived and met with a male reporting witness who explained the incident.
The witness advised he pulled up outside the residence to check on his friend, who was the victim. He stated that as he pulled up, the woman came outside and had a bloody nose. The witness said the victim told him she was hit by her husband and wanted him to call the police, which he did.
Arriving deputies learned the suspect had a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant and made contact with him. The suspect said he and the victim were pushing each other around. The man repeated the same statement to another deputy and would not go into any further details. Due to the warrant, he was handcuffed and placed into a patrol vehicle.
Deputies met with the victim, who was visibly upset, crying and had blood stains on her shirt. Officers learned the man allegedly hit her earlier that morning in front of her children, ages 8, 4 and 2, punching her in the face and back of the head and then left for work. He returned an hour later while she was packing her things. She said when she attempted to leave, the man held her hostage in front of the children with her head to the floor and a knife in his hands saying that he would cut her up and kill her if she called police, according to the arrest report.
The victim showed deputies her injuries, including a knot on the back of the right side of her head and a large lump. She had bruises all over her arms consistent with grab marks and had large bruises on her legs and marks on her back, according to the arrest report.
Officers observed the bedroom and bathroom had items thrown around, with a broken mirror and glass spread around. The TV in the bedroom had been smashed in and clothing had been thrown all over. Officers found blood spots on the bathroom floor.
The man was booked on the charges. During the booking process officers learned he had a prior conviction for domestic battery. Bail: $50,000.
