Nevada State Parks meetings to discuss money for trail systems available through grant

With the authorization that allows federal funds to flow to the Tahoe Basin set to expire next year, Nevada’s congressional delegation and Tahoe stakeholders are hopeful they can pass a re-authorization this year.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong issued the following information Wednesday morning into Tuesday night's shootings. A Lyon County teen remains hospitalized after being shot in the face. Three teenagers are in custody and the investigation remains active. The updated information is in the news release below:

On Tuesday evening at 7:03 p.m., Jan. 24, 2023, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls of a shooting actively taking place at the 3300 block of East Carmine Street in East Carson City. At 7:06, three minutes later, the Sheriff’s Office received reports of a gunshot victim in a vehicle located near the intersection of Sherman Lane and Concord Drive, approximately one-half mile away.

According to the Carson City Health Inspector’s reports, Comma Coffee was cited multiple times over the past year for critical health code violations, including storing raw food incorrectly and the presence of a severe mice infestation.

The Health Department shut down Comma Coffee at 312 South Carson Street, entirely after their Jan. 18 inspection when the restaurant failed to fix multiple critical violations despite numerous warnings.

The Sierra Surf Boys 2008/U15 soccer team has been accepted to the prestigious weeklong Dallas Cup in Dallas, Texas in April. Cameron Woods, an 8th grader at Eagle Valley Middle School in Carson City, is the starting goalkeeper for the Reno-based Surf team.

CARSON CITY — A sixth grader from Carson Middle School and a pair of Carson High School sophomore boxing athletes have punched their way to the top, winning both state (in Las Vegas, Nov. 19, 2022) and regional championships (in Compton, Calif., Jan. 6-8, 2023) and are now gearing up to compete at the national level at the Silver Gloves National Finals, hosted in Independence, Mo. Feb. 9-11, 2023.
