Carson City Salvation Army seeks Red Kettles workers, hiring event Wednesday
The Salvation Army’s Red Kettles — a holiday tradition that has served as a symbol of goodwill for more than 100 years — is in need of additional "Kettle Workers" at its locations throughout the Carson City region.
The Salvation Army has not been able to fill all their Kettle locations. With more than 20 locations to fill they have averaged about 11 bell ringers each day.
"I’ve had donors call in and want to donate, but they are having a hard time finding kettles,” said Captain Mark Cyr, the local leader for The Salvation Army. “This can be a big frustration for them and for us as we depend on this income to help those in need in our community.”
Those interested in a Kettle job can apply this Wednesday, Dec. 4, beginning at 11 a.m. at The Salvation Army 911 E. 2nd St. Carson City.
The Salvation Army is asking for people who are "Happy and Honest," the only skills required for the job. Seekers should bring two forms of legal identification, three references and plan on being interviewed.
This is a great opportunity for anyone that needs extra Christmas money, said Cyr.
The Salvation Army, serving Carson City and Douglas County, provides services to Carson City, Dayton, and Douglas County for more than 20,000 people each year helping with school supplies, emergency food and lodging, homeless prevention, homeless shelter transportation, utilities, holiday assistance, Summer Day Camp, Before and After School Care, and Summer Camp.
