Throughout the week, girls learned how to work as a team, explored characteristics of a good friend, and discussed how to navigate uncomfortable conversations and emotions. We are sending a BIG energy award to all of the volunteers and supporters of GOTR as well as the employees of the Carson City Community Center for making Camp GOTR possible. Girls on the Run Sierras brings camp to Carson City on Aug. 7

At Camp GOTR, girls will participate in a week-long, half-day camp with lessons about friendship, kindness and creativity. The camp is from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and there is a sliding scale cost.

Last Friday, Nov. 20, the nonprofit held its 23rd Annual Turkey Drop. With a year that has seen such a dramatic increase in assistance requests, the amount of turkeys and financial donations The Salvation Army received greatly exceeded what the agency hoped to receive.

With Camp Wasiu II’s Virtual Camp-In Camp Out, girls can fight learning loss with engaging science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) activities. Camp Wasiu II’s Virtual Camp-In Camp Out is Sunday, July 12 through Thursday, July 16.

Camp Kesem is a nationally recognized organization that helps family affected by cancer.

Carson City agrees to settle second Camp Carson molestation lawsuit for $1.25 million
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Thu, 11/21/2019 - 11:33amThe Carson City Board of Supervisors agreed to settle a lawsuit for a total of $1,250,000 after four children were allegedly sexually abused while enrolled with Camp Carson by a 15-year-old volunteer.
The lawsuits allege that while the children were enrolled in Camp Carson Summer Camp in 2016 as Wagoneers (first graders) a 15-year-old volunteer inappropriately sexually touched the four children.
