In twelve years of rescuing cats at Catmandu, we’ve seen just about every color and pattern imaginable—or so we thought. Then Bandit arrived.
Bandit is the first ‘smoke tabby’ to ever come through our doors, making him a truly rare and extraordinary cat. His stunning coat features a shimmering silver undercoat topped with dramatic black tabby markings, creating a look that is nothing short of breathtaking. But as beautiful as Bandit is on the outside, it’s his sweet, friendly personality that makes him unforgettable.
Bandit is a 3-year-old neutered male who loves people and enjoys being wherever the action is. He is playful, affectionate, and has an easygoing nature that makes him a joy to be around. He gets along well with well-mannered children and cat-friendly dogs, and his happy personality makes friends wherever he goes.
Bandit’s story began in a North Carolina ditch, where he and his brother, Smokey, were discovered when they were only a few days old. Their rescuers lovingly bottle-fed them and raised them as treasured members of the family. When military orders relocated the family to Coleville, the brothers made the journey with them.
Sadly, the family’s 2-year-old daughter developed severe allergies to the cats. Faced with an impossible decision, they chose to surrender Bandit and Smokey so they could find a loving new home where everyone could thrive. It was a heartbreaking choice made entirely out of love.
Bandit and Smokey would certainly enjoy being adopted together. However, they are not dependent on one another and can be adopted separately if the right family comes along.
Bandit has one little quirk that prevents him from being perfect. He believes houseplants are toys—and snacks! He enjoys digging in flowerpots and chewing on leaves, so he’ll need a home where plants are either safely out of reach or simply not part of the décor.
If you’re looking for an exceptional companion with movie-star looks and an equally beautiful heart, Bandit may be the perfect addition to your family. Cats like him don’t come along very often.
If you would like to meet Bandit, please complete a pre-adoption application at CatmanduCC.org, then plan to visit him this weekend. Catmandu will be open for adoptions Friday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Please note: we will be closed Saturday in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. To ensure you have plenty of time to get acquainted with Bandit before adoptions close, we ask that potential adopters arrive no later than 3 p.m. We are located at 1829 Brown Street.
Bandit has already overcome a difficult beginning and the heartbreak of losing the only home he has ever known. Now all he needs is someone willing to give this rare and remarkable boy the forever home he deserves.
