With Independence Day and our nation’s 250th anniversary celebration just around the corner, we want to remind everyone that all fireworks are illegal within the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City—including those labeled “Safe and Sane.”
Possessing or using fireworks in Carson City is a criminal misdemeanor and may result in fines and/or incarceration. If illegal fireworks cause a fire, those responsible may also be charged for the cost of fire suppression, in addition to any criminal penalties.
Many people believe Safe and Sane fireworks are permitted—but they are not.
Examples of Safe and Sane fireworks include:
- Fountains
- Sparklers
- Ground Spinners
- Pinwheels
- Smoke Balls & Snakes
The safest way to celebrate is to leave the fireworks to the professionals! Join us for Carson City’s one and only permitted public fireworks show and enjoy an unforgettable evening with family and friends.
Let’s work together to keep our community safe this holiday. Have a fun, safe, and happy Fourth of July!
