Carson City claims second straight best bearded community title
Facial hair of all sizes, shapes and sorts took over Bob McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City Saturday following the Nevada Day Parade.
Dozens of competitors from all over the Silver State let their whiskers hang low in a beard versus beard face-off.
First place finishers in each of ten categories — longest beard, best white beard, best ginger beard, best black beard, fullest beard, best well groomed beard, scruffiest beard, best salt and pepper beard, and best overall beard, a fan favorite — took home a championship plaque for their facial hair efforts.
Carson City claimed the team title once again as best bearded community in 2017.
Boasting 45 bearded faces that stepped onto the McFadden Stage to be counted, the Nevada state capital claimed the community crown for the second consecutive year.
Individual winners are as follows:
— Longest Beard: Matt Lee, 38.5 inches
— Best White Beard: Mike Hardy
— Best Black Beard: Bill Krunk
— Best Ginger Beard: Joe Clark
— Scruffiest Beard: StinkE
— Best Well Groomed Beard: Nate Boswell
— Fullest Beard: Sean Miller
— Best Salt and Pepper Beard: Gary Bajwa
Accompanied by many screams and shouts, Matt Lee took home the best overall beard, an award given to the beard that wins over the most fans.
First place contestant Sean Miller gave his thoughts on the competition.
“It was awesome,” Miller said. “I had tons of fun competing against my fellow beard opponents, but I came out on top baby!”
