Carson City sheriff’s weekend arrest report: Vehicle pursuit ends with one arrest
A 22-year-old Carson City man with two warrants was arrested Friday on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon and eluding, among other charges following a vehicle pursuit, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Moises Alvares was also booked on misdemeanor charges of assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest with violence, driving without a valid license, and warrant charges of violation of a suspended sentence and failure to appear. He was arrested at 7:47 p.m.
According to the arrest report, a deputy attempted to stop a van that Alvares was driving after learning of warrant charges. The deputy observed the van failing to maintain lanes and driving in the middle of the number one and two traffic lanes for about 2 blocks.
The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but it did not stop, and instead sped up. Deputies pursued the vehicle with lights and sirens for several blocks. The van drove at speeds of 80 mph on I-580, and 70 mph on Fairview, and 50 mph on Carson Street as well as going through intersections and stop lights creating a dangerous situation, and nearly causing accidents. The pursuit ended on Paiute Street where he resisted arrest, was tasered and had to be physically restrained. Bail: $42,510.
In other arrests:
— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 5:44 p.m. in the 500 block of East William Street on felony suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said. Arrested was Kenna Elizabeth Blanken. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a grocery store regarding the incident and made contact with the victim who stated that she was exiting her vehicle in a marked spot and was unloading her three children to enter the store. She stated that a red Jeep occupied by the suspect was parking in the spot directly next to her.
The victim stated the woman accelerated rapidly toward her and her three young children. She stated that she pushed her 3 children out of the way to avoid them from being struck by the vehicle. She stated that the vehicle stopped inches from striking her and stated she raised her hands and stated “move bitch.”
A deputy made contact with the suspect in her vehicle. The officer asked her for her side of the story. The woman stated she scared the F*** out of them, the arrest report states. The officer asked why. The suspect stated the victim wasn’t walking fast enough. The suspect insisted that she didn’t do anything wrong.
The victim stated she wanted to pursue charges and filled out a statement. The suspect was arrested and taken to jail without incident.
— A 48-year-old San Jose man, Haldora Fong, was arrested Friday, 1:15 a.m. on a felony parole warrant out of Elko County. The man was already in custody at the jail after being extradited from Santa Clara County, Calif. He’s being held without bail awaiting extradition.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 10:15 a.m. in the area of 1000 block of North Saliman on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, a couple sitting in the parking lot of Carson High School got into a dispute in which the victim, allegedly was hit by the suspect on the right side of her face with his left hand.
The victim’s glasses broke and made a small bump on the right side of the bridge of her nose. She advised the suspect also hit the left side of her head by pushing her face and head into the driver’s side window. The victim had corroborating injuries with her statements. The suspect denied that he attacked the woman and attributed the injuries to being self-inflicted.
An eyewitness also completed a statement saying he heard a female scream and exited his vehicle to investigate and which time he saw the suspect extending his arm inside the vehicle, striking the victim. Based on statements, the man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
— A 49-year-old Flagstaff, Ariz., man was arrested Friday, 6:31 p.m. in the 3600 block of south Carson Street on a misdemeanor charge, disorderly conduct. According to the arrest report deputies were called to a fast food restaurant regarding an unruly subject making threats and using offensive language. A deputy detained the man, who appeared grossly intoxicated, had very thick and slurred speech to the point where he was barely understandable. He later submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .195 after a partial blow.
Deputies spoke with customers and staff who said the man made racial comments about witnesses being Hispanic. One witness was told she was to go back to the border. An employee stated the man said he had a bomb in his suitcase. The suspect was arrested and was verbally unruly at the time he was taken to jail. Bail: $242.
— A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 4:59 p.m. in the 700 block of South Carson Street on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court, issued Oct. 13, 2015. Bail: $1,000.
— A 58-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 9:18 a.m. in the 1800 block of College Parkway on suspicion of disorderly conduct. The intoxicated man had apparently stepped in and out of traffic and appeared to be intoxicated. Officers spoke with the man who was unsteady on his feet and would not tell the officer where he lived. Bail: $242.
