Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Motorcyclist booked for second DUI
A 25 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:17 a.m. in the area of Musser and Carson streets for suspicion of a misdemeanor second driving under the influence offense, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
According to the arrest report, the sheriff and multiple deputies made a traffic stop on a motorcycle that had originally failed to yield to law enforcement. The rider subsequently crashed the motorcycle at the intersection of Musser and Carson streets, where he raised himself off the pavement and attempted to pick up the bike as deputies approached.
The suspect rider failed to comply with multiple law enforcement commands to drop the bike and not move. He was then taken to the ground by deputies and detained in handcuffs, the report said.
Upon having his helmet removed, the suspect complained of minor injuries. He stated that he had sped up when he saw a vehicle behind him. He took the turn at the traffic intersection too fast and lost control of the motorcycle, the suspect said in the report.
Deputies observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the suspect's breath, the report said, as well as red, watery eyes.
The suspect consented to standard field sobriety tests (FSTs), the report said, failing multiple tests and showing signs of impairment. He then consented to a preliminary breath test (PBT), which yielded breath alcohol content (BAC) of .148 percent.
A records check through Carson City Dispatch showed the suspect had pled guilty to a prior DUI in Nevada last year. He was taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,637.
