Lyon County detectives investigate human remains in burned vehicle, foul play not suspected

On Sunday, Oct. 10 at approximately 8:42 a.m., Lyon County Sheriff's deputies responded to an area on Gallagher Pass in Smith Valley for a report of a burned out vehicle.

Upon arrival the responders located what appeared to be human remains. Detectives and fire investigators were called to the scene. The scene was processed with human remains found.

The remains were sent to the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office for identification. Foul play is not suspected. The investigation continues. No further information at this time.
