Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest log: Deputies make methamphetamine busts

A 45 year-old transient man and 31 year-old Mound House woman were arrested Friday evening at 6:23 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Carson Street for felony suspicion of drug trafficking and possession of methamphetamine offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Eric Anthony Weber and Deborah Ellen Duffy were taken into custody after a Sheriff's deputy had approached them in a casino parking lot about an unlicensed vehicle they were removing items from, the arrest report said.

The couple was observed removing items from one vehicle, which displayed no visible moving permits or license plates, and placing them in another automobile occupied by two other subjects, the report said.

Duffy was known by the Sheriff's Office due to her drug history, the report said. When she noticed law enforcement approach, she quickly got into the occupied vehicle.

A Sheriff's deputy made contact with Duffy and Weber, who reported they had just purchased the unlicensed vehicle and hadn't had time yet to get it registered or permitted, the report said.

The two other subjects in the front seats of the occupied car, a male and female couple, told law enforcement that they had agreed to give the suspect vehicle a jump start, the report said.

The male driver said he was familiar with Weber from past contact and knew he had once been involved with drugs before becoming sober. But when Weber and Duffy recognized Sheriff's vehicles in the parking lot, they had quickly gotten into the back seats of the couple's car, the report said.

Weber denied there being any drugs inside of the unlicensed vehicle, and he consented to an exterior K-9 sniff, which resulted in a positive alert, the report said.

Weber and Duffy also had a large diaper bag between them in the occupied vehicle as law enforcement approached. They denied it belonged to them. But the driver of the vehicle stated they had the bag with them when they got into the back seat of his car.

Both the diaper bag and the unlicensed vehicle were searched. Inside the bag were located three small grocery bags containing a white crystalized substance tested presumptive positive as methamphetamine, the report said.

Each bag contained more than three grams of meth, the report said, weighing in total nearly 11 grams.

Weber and Duffy were handcuffed at that point and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $20,000 each.

In other arrests:
— A 31 year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:15 a.m. in the 800 block of North Carson Street for felony suspicion of methamphetamine possession, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Kristal Evans was taken into custody after law enforcement made contact with her and a group of suspicious subjects who had assembled in an unlit area downtown next to a closed business.

Evans and the others in the group were standing around two parked vehicles. A K-9 officer conducted an exterior sniff of both vehicles, a positive alert resulting from one of those, the report said.

The suspicious vehicle was subsequently searched, the report said, and a plastic baggie containing suspected meth was located inside of a purse that also had a casino club card bearing Evans' name.

Evans was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500.

— A 37 year-old woman and 27 year-old man, both from Carson City, were arrested Monday afternoon, Oct. 2, in the 200 block of East Long Street on separate felony offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Teresa Kathleen Orlando was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession, while Isai Ramirez was arrested on a felony parole and probation violation, the report said.

According to the report, law enforcement was dispatched to the Long Street residence on a tip that Ramirez was staying there. Dispatched confirmed an outstanding arrest warrant against Ramirez issued out of the Carson City Justice Court.

In the area of the residence, Sheriff's deputies observed Ramirez in the front passenger seat of a black sedan. A traffic stop was then made on the vehicle, the report said.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Orlando, and Ramirez was also identified upon contact with officers.

Ramirez was removed from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs, the report said, while Orlando stated to deputies that she had been arrested before for drugs and she knew Ramirez had a drug-using history, too.

A K-9 officer performed an exterior sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert. A subsequent search of the vehicle found a small plastic baggie containing a white crystalized substance that tested presumptive positive for meth, the report said.

The drugs were found inside the pocket of a brown sweater belonging to Orlando, who stated the substance was fake meth. She also admitted to having a syringed tucked inside of her bra, the report said.

Orlando was permitted to recover the syringe, which contained a small amount of clear liquid inside of it. She admitted that the liquid substance was meth, the report said.

Orlando was also handcuffed and then transported along with Ramirez to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail for Orlando: $2,500. Ramirez is being held on no bail, per Nevada Parole and Probation.

All information for the crime log (unless otherwise noted) comes from the arrest reports supplied by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, and is considered by law to be public information. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The policy of Carson Now is to name anyone who is arrested for a felony offense.
