Carson City road construction report for Monday through Sept. 26
Here is the Carson City road construction report for Monday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 26. As is our weekly shout-out to our beloved and most-patient motorists, expect delays and give the road crews a brake in the slow zones.
In other words, if your gut knots up because you're running late, relax a bit. As the Robert Earl Keen song refrains, "the road goes on forever and the party never ends."
Besides, you'll make it on time. You always do.
As per usual through January, Koontz Lane between Raglan Circle and Edmonds Drive remains closed because of the ongoing Nevada Department of Transportation freeway project. What's new this week is there'll be a concrete pour on the Koontz area structure starting at around 6 a.m. Monday.
Think progress, folks. We're on our way and the beat does go on.
Meanwhile, the Roop Street widening project continues and is expected to be finished by the end of of the year. The following impacts are expected this week:
— US 50/William Street will have intermittent lane closures at Roop Street from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for eastbound traffic and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for westbound traffic.
— Corbett Street will be closed at Roop Street. Local business traffic will be detoured via Molly Drive and Long Street.
— Roop Street will be closed to through traffic at Robinson Street. Local business traffic and patrons of the Carson City Community Center will have access via Roop Street but may also use William Street. Library patrons should use Stewart Street to Washington Street for access.
— The intersection of Caroline Street and Roop Street will be closed to through traffic.
— Roop Street is closed from William Street to Stewart Street through the completion of the project. Traffic may cross Roop Street at Long Street.
But wait. There's more ...
NDOT is working to add a third northbound lane on Highway 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive. Work continues with single lane closures in both directions because of work on the median at this location between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Lupin Drive will continue to experience occasional lane closures with flagger controlled traffic in place near the intersection with US
395/Old Clear Creek Road. Minimal delays are expected.
Because of water utility improvements, Hells Bells Road (was the contractor, like, an AC/DC fan or something?) between Riparian Way and Marsh Road will be closed to through traffic (local traffic allowed) all week.
Research Way will be reduced to one lane inbound south from College Parkway on Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for a special event.
Keep it chill on the roads, be safe and have a great week.
