RSVP to launch inaugural 'Days of Service' during Nevada Day Carnival
This year RSVP will host its first “Days of Service” event at Mills Park along with our regular Nevada Days Carnival and Celebration. The carnival begins Thursday, Oct. 29 and ends Monday, Nov. 1, 2015. The “Days of Service” will be Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
This event is in honor of all of the wonderful agencies that are here to serve you. As a tribute, we want everyone to have the opportunity to come out to the park and learn more about the fantastic work being done here in Nevada’s capital city.
Find the hero in you! The United Blood Services invites you to donate blood. Please set up an appointment today. Your contribution can literally save lives. One pint of blood can be distributed to as many as three people. Please call RSVP at 687-4680 x 110 to set your appointment with Anita so that we can have the proper number of technicians available at the event.
Carson City Rotary Club, Carson City Sherriff’s, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention, Young Eagles, and many other organizations plan to attend. We will have information booths with representatives to talk to you about the services they can provide as well as volunteer opportunities. There will be brochures that you can pick up and look through at your leisure.
Would you like to make a difference in the world? There will be opportunities to learn more and to find out how you can do so. St. Peter’s Caregiver’s Support Group, the Alzheimer’s Association and Sanford Center for Aging have teamed up with RSVP to provide respite services.
There is help for the caregivers and hope for the families who give so unselfishly of themselves. Volunteers are able to provide desperately needed regular breaks to stressed out caregivers who need to take care of themselves so that they can continue their care of another. The one being cared for has the opportunity to communicate with someone new and to share their thoughts and feelings which stimulates their minds and bodies and helps them continue to be part of the community and society.
All day pre-sale wrist bands to the carnival are available for $20 at Carson City Toyota Scion from now until noon on Thursday, Oct. 29. This is the 30th year that RSVP has hosted the Nevada Day Carnival.
