Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man busted for sexual offense involving a minor

A 64 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Carson City Sheriff's Office on a felony charge of using a minor child as the subject of sexual portrayal, a Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report said.

James Gregory Rocha was taken into custody at the Sheriff's Office following an interview with investigators who had asked him to come in for questioning.

On arrival for the interview, Rocha had stated that he did not wish to answer any questions. However, the Sheriff's investigator held an outstanding felony arrest warrant issued for Rocha by the Carson City Justice Court to answer for the charge of one count of using a minor as the subject of sexual portrayal in a performance, the report said.

Rocha was handcuffed and arrested at that point, and escorted to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $250,000.

In other arrests:

— A 29 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 2:20 a.m. in the area of South Edmonds and Clearview drives for misdemeanor first-offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to the 1600 block of Koontz Lane on report of a suspicious vehicle that had been parked with its engine running in front of a residence for about a half-hour.

While the deputy was en route, the vehicle reportedly left the scene and was traveling eastbound on Koontz toward South Edmonds Drive, the report said.

An older white hatchback, matching the description of the suspect vehicle, was observed parked south of the Koontz Lane and South Edmonds intersection. But as the deputy's patrol car approached and activated its emergency lights, the vehicle drove away from the shoulder and into the southbound travel lane of South Edmonds Drive at a slow rate of speed, the report said.

The vehicle then pulled off onto the shoulder again, this time just north of the Clearview Drive intersection, and a traffic stop was made.

When the deputy made contact with the driver, a strong odor of alcohol was smelled coming from the suspect's breath, the report said. The suspect also exhibited slow, slurred speech and displayed red, watery eyes.

When asked if he had been the drinking, the suspect driver admitted to having consumed three beers and three shots of alcohol, the report said.

The suspect consented to field sobriety testing (FST), which demonstrated signs of impairment. He struggled to perform the walk and turn test, stating he couldn't do the tests. "I can do it," he said. "I can't pass these tests."

The suspect also stated, "I know I shouldn't be driving," and revised his alcohol intake to three beers and six shots, the report said.

He consented to a preliminary breath test (PBT), which yielded breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .276 percent. He was handcuffed and taken into custody at that point, transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.

— A 25 year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:55 a.m. in the 3700 block of Tuolumne Way on an outstanding misdemeanor bench warrant for failure to appear issued by the Carson City Justice Court, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy responded to a domestic dispute call at the Tuolumne address. The suspect was reportedly having an argument with her boyfriend and no physical altercation had occurred.

Upon making contact with the deputy, the suspect stated she believed she had a warrant and wanted to leave the residence to take care of the warrant, the report said.

A records check confirmed the warrant and the suspect was placed under arrest, transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $380.

— A 25 year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:30 a.m. at the Carson City Jail on an outstanding misdemeanor failure to appear bench warrant issued by the Dayton Township Justice Court in Lyon County, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the report, the suspect had been detained at the Carson City Jail on separate local charges and was set to be released upon satisfactory fulfillment of them.

However, a records check determined the suspect had an active warrant on her record, and she was booked again into the jail on the arrest warrant. Bail: $500.

All information for the crime log (unless otherwise noted) comes from the arrest reports supplied by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, and is considered by law to be public information.
