Insurance agent with traffic warrants tells CCSO deputy he was speeding to get to restaurant before it closed

A 25-year-old Reno man was arrested Sunday night in the area of Fairview and Roop streets for three failure to appear warrants out of Carson City, a contempt of court warrant out of Reno Township, and for suspicion of reckless driving, speeding more than 35 mph over the limit and driving with a suspended license.

According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle pass him going westbound on Fairview Drive at a rate of speed, estimated to be 70 mph. The area is posted as a 35 mph zone. The officer activated his emergency lights and siren and pursued the vehicle.

As the officer made the traffic stop and exited their patrol vehicle, a deputy pulled up in their personal vehicle and stated they witnessed the driver speeding. The deputy statement was as follows: "His car blew my car off a straight course. I had to grip my steering wheel firmly and redirect my steering to stay in my travel lane." The deputy estimated the speed of the driver between 70 and 80 mph.

He stated he and his girlfriend, who was the front seat passenger, were in a hurry to make it to a restaurant before it closed. He stated he knew the reason for the stop and stated he was going about "50" miles per hour. He was not in possession of his driver's license upon request.

A records check showed the man's license was suspended. He also showed to have four active and confirmed warrants. Threee out of Cason Township Court and one out of Reno Township Court. All of the man's warrants appear to be related to driving offenses, as well as driving without a license. He was arrested. Total bail amount listed: $2,433.
