Carson City arrests: Stolen license plates lead to drug arrests

Two were arrested Saturday for alleged possession of heroin for sale and other charges, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report said.

Alyssa Katie Holt and Sean Dwayne Wyatt were taken into custody at a south Carson City casino at 5:03 p.m.
According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy was in the area of a casino garage and observed two seated in a vehicle. The officer ran the plates on the vehicle, a red Ford Explorer, which came back as the plates having been stolen out of Reno. It was confirmed through dispatch.

The vehicle began to drive out of the parking lot and the officer conducted a stop. The vehicle stopped and the male driver immediate opened the door and stepped out. Due to the behavior and the plates being stolen, the deputy conducted a high risk stop. The man was ordered back inside his vehicle. Other deputies were called and the man was detained.

Deputies ordered the female passenger, Holt, out of the vehicle. She advised she had heroin and Suboxone on her person. The drugs were retrieved. She was placed into custody and read her Miranda rights. She said she knew the plates were stolen and so did Wyatt, the report states.

She admitted she uses drugs daily and said she had used approximately 1 gram a day. Marks on her body indicated she injected drugs, according to the report. She told the deputy the two had bought the heroin that day in Reno and told the deputy she had an active warrant for her arrest. Dispatch confirmed a felony priority 5 warrant from the department of parole and probation.

Wyatt was read his Miranda warning and agreed to speak. He admitted he knew the plates were stolen as well. He said he uses heroin and they both bought the heroin earlier and were weighing it inside the parking garage. He was placed into custody.

Sheriff's canine Ivo alerted positive on the vehicle exterior. A search was done where officers located a drug kit on the passenger side that included heroin, baggies and a scale, prescription medication without a prescription, and drug paraphernalia, including several hypodermic needles. The woman admitted the drugs inside the kit were both hers and Wyatt's, the report states. Se said the prescription pills, however, were not hers. Wyatt admitted that everything in the kit was his as well as were the prescription pills, according to the report.

Holt was arrested for suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance for sale (heroin) possession of drug paraphernalia, and her warrant through parole and probation. Total bail amount listed: $16,876. Wyatt was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of stolen property, possession of a prescription drug without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. Total bail amount listed: $19,376.

— A 58-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 5:58 p.m. in the 3700 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and following too close. According to the arrest reported deputies were called to the area in reference to a traffic crash.

A deputy observed one of the drivers having difficulty keeping balance when she walked. A deputy requested she sit in her vehicle to talk. The deputy spoke with the woman and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person. She also exhibited watery eyes and slurred speech, the report states.

The deputy asked the woman to exit the vehicle. The woman was asked if she had been drinking. She replied she had two glasses of wine and then said she had three glasses.

The woman was asked if she would be willing to perform a field sobriety tests. She replied no. The woman allowed for a preliminary breath test with a result of .235 partial blow, the report states.
The deputy explained to the woman that she was being taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. She was read a request for voluntary evidence and she agreed to provide a blood sample.

She told the officer her neck and back were hurting and wished to go to the hospital. She was taken to the hospital and then, after she was medically cleared, taken to the detention facility. Bail: $1,269.

— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 12:30 p.m. in the area of East William and State Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued out of East Fork Township Justice Court. Bail: $298.

— A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 10:25 p.m. for suspicion of two counts domestic battery, 1 count battery and minor consuming. According to the arrest report and investigation, the woman scratched, punched and kicked victims following an argument about the woman being drunk and them trying to calm her down. The woman provided a preliminary breath test with a .228. Deputies observed victims to have scratches and bruising. Total bail amount listed: $7,653.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 11:48 p.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, a sheriff's deputy said. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a Como Street residence for a physical domestic battery. Deputies met with the suspect and victim.

The victim told deputies she and the man had been drinking, and began to argue and that he threw her against the wall and threw beer on her. She showed deputies her left arm that had a scratch and small laceration with dried blood on it. Deputies also could see bruising on her wrist. The victim advised the man had tried to pull off a ring, causing a scratch.

Deputies spoke with the man, who admitted the two were arguing. He told deputies the two drank approximately 12 beers. He was asked how the woman got a scratch on her arm. He said he didn't know and that she falls all the time, the arrest report states. The deputy asked what would have caused the injury and the man called the woman "a vindictive bitch" who was being drunk and stupid, the arrest report states. He denied touching the woman. Deputies arrested the man for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

UPDATE 6 p.m.: Courtesy of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office: On May 3, 2024 at approximately 1430 hours, Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies responded along with Central Lyon County, Carson City and Storey County Fire personnel to the area of 34 Newman Ln. for a report of motorhome on fire. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the fire had spread and multiple other abandoned vehicles caught fire as well. No one was hurt or injured during the incident. The incident is currently under investigation, which is being conducted by the Nevada State Fire Marshall’s Division.

UPDATE 2:38 p.m.: Firefighters from Storey are also now responding.

UPDATE 2:33 p.m.: Multiple vehicles on the property are engulfed in flame.

Around 2:15 p.m. a fire was reported at 34 Newman Lane in Mound House.

Firefighters from Carson City and Lyon County are enroute to the scene.

UPDATE 1:20 p.m.: According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, a student reported they saw a weapon. The incident was investigated and there was no weapon found. The lockdown has now been lifted and students are leaving the school.

UPDATE 1:15 p.m.: Update 05-03-24 at 1:15 p.m.
One student has reported an alleged weapon sighting. It has not been corroborated, but school officials and the sheriff’s office are investigating out an abundance of caution.

UPDATE 12:50 p.m.: The following update was provided by the district:

Carson High School was put on lockdown this afternoon around 12:15 p.m. No person was injured. There is an active situation being investigated in cooperation with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. We will provide more information as it becomes known. The school is secure. Do not go to the school. No entrances will be permitted at time. The district will provide updates every 30 minutes. Expect the next update at 1:15 p.m.

Carson High School is currently on a lockdown as of 12:40 p.m. Friday, but there has been no incident reported according to Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is today, Thursday, May 2 at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City. The memorial brings hundreds to the capitol grounds. The ceremony begins at 1 p.m.

More than 48 Carson High School Future Business Leaders of America students attended the state conference in Sparks, Nev. this past week. In total, 38 of those students earned 74 “Top-10” placements in 30 separate events. Additionally, three CHS FBLA students took state with first-place finishes and 15 of them qualified for the National Business Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. this coming June.
