Bulls, Broncs and Barrels kicks off in Carson City
The Carson City Fair will wrap up the weekend with back-to-back performances of Manuel Souza’s Bulls, Broncs and Barrels.
“This is a good fit for us,” he said. “We’ve got an awesome show lined up.”
The fifth annual rodeo will be 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Fuji Park. Southern barbecue will be available for purchase at the rodeo grounds.
For information see The Carson City Fair at Fuji Park.
Souza said 15 mutton busters are signed up, 10 calf riders, 16 barrel racers, five bronc riders, six junior bull riders and 22 professional riders.
“We’ve got a great pen of bulls,” he said.
The Bulls, Broncs and Barrels will be the featured entertainment of the Carson City Fair this week, organized by the Carson City Fair Board, a partnership of nonprofits joining together.
The traditional fair will include livestock auctions, a carnival, static displays and tractor pulls, which will run through Sunday at Fuji Park.
“They’ve got a good 4-H turnout,” Souza said. “I think that’s going to be a really big draw for us.”
He said it will be a natural choice for families who are attending or participating in the fair.
“We’re giving families a good alternative to do,” he said. “Our show is a family show, that’s important to us.”
Local singer Makayla Taylor will also take the stage midway through the rodeo.
“We’ve added a little different flair,” Souza said.
Tickets for the show are $10 and are available at Benson’s Feed, 2750 Highway 50 East; J T Basque Bar & Dining Room, 1426 Highway 395, Gardnerville; or the Carson City Culture & Tourism Authority, 716 N. Carson St. or visitcarsoncity.com.
“I’m pulling out all the stops,” Souza said. “We want to pack the place. That’s our goal.”
