Douglas County declares state of emergency due Tamarack Fire

CARSON CITY — For safety reasons due to extreme fire conditions, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest will temporarily close Carson Ranger District areas in California, beginning Sunday, August 22 at 11:59 p.m. The temporary closures include the following:

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — The Caldor Fire burning southwest of Lake Tahoe is 98,149 acres and remains 0 percent contained as of Sunday morning. The fire remained active again throughout the night, particularly in the northeast section of the fire. Vegetation and timber is igniting very easily and spotting continues to occur ahead of the fire perimeter.
