Brush fire breaks out in Johnson Lane area; Carson City responds to backyard fire
UPDATE 10:37PM: Forward progress of the fire off of Stephanie Way has been stopped, according to a battalion chief on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

East Fork Fire and Tahoe Douglas firefighters were called Thursday evening to a brush fire burning in the Johnson Lane area near Stephanie Way in Carson Valley. Also, there was a report of a backyard fire on Brown Street in Carson City.
Firefighters were alerted to the Stephanie fire at around 10 p.m. Arriving firefighters report the fire is burning in an area of medium fuel with a slow to moderate rate of spread with virtually no wind. As of 10:25 p.m. the fire was at around 2 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
A BLM brush unit has been requested for a mutual assist, according to a battalion chief on scene. It is unknown at this time if structures are threatened. The cause is under investigation.
At around 10:15 p.m. Carson City Fire Department was called to a backyard fire in the 1600 block of Brown Street. The fire was largely extinguished by the time firefighters arrived.
