Carson City woman jailed for suspected child abuse; allegedly threw cup, soda can at victim

A 31-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony child abuse/neglect (simple assault) and misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery, according to a sheriff's deputy booking report.

Regina Maureen Rupert was taken into custody at 8:42 p.m. According to the report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a South Carson Meadows residence for a report of a child who had been battered.

Officers spoke with the victim, age redacted in the report, who said he was struck by a soda can and a coffee cup that was thrown at him by his "step mom" because she was mad at him. An investigating deputy observed bruising on the victim's left arm above his elbow that was consistent with being struck by a blunt object. Medical attention was not required, the arrest report states.

The suspect refused to speak with the officer. A witness said the suspect throw a soda can, which struck the victim and a coffee cup, that didn't strike the victim. She was arrested for suspicion of the crimes. Bail amount listed: $43,137.

In other arrests:
— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday for suspicion of violation of pre-trial conditions, a misdemeanor. Bail: $3,000.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 1:37 a.m. in the 300 block of East William Street for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.

According to the arrest report, a deputy responded to a fast food restaurant where a reporting party stated they had been hit from behind in the drive through.

Deputies made contact with victim and got a statement and then spoke with the suspect. The officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol on their breath, and observed red watery eyes and slurred speech. The suspect stated they had consumed 10 beers earlier that day at a friend's house. The suspect performed field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .102. and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.

— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 3:06 p.m. at a Jacobsen Way resident for a citizens arrest for assault. Bail: $637.

— A 45-year-old man was arrested Saturday, 12:59 p.m. in the 3700 block of South Carson Street for two counts suspicion of gross misdemeanor obstructing an officer, and a citizen's arrest charges for suspicion of provoking assault, stalking and jaywalking.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a casino regarding a subject who was banging on the window. Deputies met with the reporting party who said they had been chased by the suspect. Deputies made contact with the suspect who was immediately verbally uncooperative, and refused to identify himself and said he was a U.S. citizen and therefore not required to identify himself, the arrest report states.

The man continued to shout at the deputy and was non-compliant when given orders to sit down. The man then began to fight with a deputy and then resisted arrest.

Upon arrival at jail the man remained combative with jail staff was was placed in a padded safety cell. Deputies again spoke with the reporting party who stated thy feared for their life after the man followed him and challenged him to a fight, the arrest report states. Bail amount listed: $6,061.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued Sept. 16, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 9:57 a.m. in the 800 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued April 8, 2020 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 42-year-old Reno man was arrested June 26 for suspicion of drug possession and other charges.
Kristopher Joseph Glick was taken into custody the 1900 block of Highway 395 and Arrowhead. He was arrested for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, both felonies, possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, a gross misdemeanor. Other offenses are a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding. Bail amount listed: $11,732.

On May 15th, 2024, shortly after midnight, deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located on the 600 block of Angela Street in Fernley, Nev., reference a caller who reported that he had murdered his mother. The caller additionally provided that he barricaded himself inside the house, was armed with a rifle, and had planted pipe bombs at the residence.

On a sunny Saturday morning, 100 volunteer participants fanned out across Lake Tahoe’s South Shore to take water quality samples from 34 streams, creeks, ponds, and lakes to monitor the health of the Truckee River watershed and Lake Tahoe as part of the 24th annual Snapshot Day. They were joined by teams doing the same tests simultaneously in other regions of the watershed.

Just before noon on Tuesday a crash with injuries was reported on the I-580 on ramp from N. Carson Street.

According to dispatch there are two vehicles involved, one of which was towing a trailer.

Injuries have been reported and the number two lane is blocked.

Traffic cameras show vehicles are moving slowly but are able to get through to Washoe Valley.

Motorists must use caution in the area.
