Thunderstorms develop over Sierra, moving into Carson region
Thunderstorms have developed over Lake Tahoe and Sierra with the potential of moving into western Nevada, Carson Valley and Carson City areas.
As of 4 p.m. there are not any warnings or watches posted by the National Weather Service. But that may change as the storms move into the valley region. The thunderstorms could bring localized heavy rain with small hail, gusty outflow winds, and frequent lightning.
Reports are there is rain and thunderstorms moving to the north in the Johnson Lane area.
Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch reports fire start incidents in the Pine Nut area and Fay Canyon near Jobs Peak in Douglas County.
Meanwhile, as of 4 p.m. Doppler radar was tracking thunderstorms along a line extending from near Lake Davis to near Truckee. Movement was northeast at 10 mph or less. Winds to 40 mph, brief moderate rainfall, very small hail, and isolated cloud to ground lightning strikes will be possible with these storms.
Locations possibly impacted include the North Valleys of Reno and Glenshire-Devonshire near Truckee.
