Carson City Chamber of Commerce offers health insurance to small businesses
Health care remains a costly and growing concern for small businesses that do not have the buying power of larger companies. There are many sole proprietors, or mom and pop businesses who, until now, have had no opportunity to buy into group policies to save up to 27 percent based on age of the policy holder.
As of today, the Carson City Chamber has partnered with Hometown Health to offer group health insurance to those once uninsurable and not eligible for health under the Affordable Care Act. Enrollment is open now through June 15 for sole proprietors. Groups with under 50 employees can enroll at any time.
The Hometown Health plan provides access to Renown Health Care providers including Carson Tahoe Health and meets the minimum essential coverage guidelines of the ACA.
Basic requirements to prepare a quote include: No more than 50 employees, a valid Nevada Business License, and must live in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, Storey, Washoe, Churchill and other rural counties. The business must be a member of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and use a Chamber member health insurance broker to write the policy.
The association health care program is one of the many member businesses services provided by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.
