California man runs from Carson City deputies and troopers, later arrested on felony warrant
A 35-year-old California man was arrested in the 3300 block of Highway 50 Friday afternoon for a felony failure to appear warrant out of Washoe County, and resisting a public officer after attempting to run from Nevada Highway Patrol troopers, and Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies.
Patrick John Martinez of Vallejo was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Modoc Ct in regard to a suspicious subject running in the area.
The description of the man matched the description of a suspect that ran from a Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper during a traffic stop earlier that morning.
On the way to Modoc Ct. deputies were notified that the suspect was running toward a Highway 50 grocery store, at which point dispatch advised that the man was reaching into his waistband while running away from another Carson City Sheriff’s Department Sergeant.
The man jumped from a wall behind the business and continued running. Two deputies began to run toward the man with pistols drawn. They ordered the man to get on the ground, which he refused.
After gaining control of him, deputies placed him in handcuffs. The NHP Trooper arrived and identified him as the subject who had run from him earlier in the day.
Dispatch advised that the man, identified as Martinez, had a Washoe County District Court felony warrant for $5,000 cash only bail for failing to appear.
The warrant, according to the report, was issued on July 12, 2017 for attempted Grand Larceny, a category D felony.
Bail: $5,412; $5,000 cash only
— A 50-year-old transient man was arrested in the 800 block of Carson Street for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, destruction of property, threats, and an ex-felon failing to register.
Fred Knerium Levine was arrested Friday after deputies were dispatched to the area of N. Carson and Robinson on a report of a “mobile argument” between a man in a white van and a man dressed in a sweater wearing a hood.
Upon arrival, deputies located the van and the reporting party, who said that the man walking north on Carson street was the man involved in the argument. He told deputies the man had a served restraining order against him from being at a local inn, and the man had been at the inn prior to deputies’ arrival.
He also stated that the man threatened him with bodily injury, and injured his vehicle by throwing ice at it.
Deputies located the man and spoke with him, at which point the man identified himself as Fred Levine and confirmed he had a restraining order against him, but that it only stated he could not go to the office at the inn.
He said the man in the van had been following him and they were arguing back and forth. Levine was cooperative throughout the conversation, deputies noted.
After running a wants and warrants check, deputies discovered there was in fact no active restraining order against Levine, and that it had expired in March.
The man in the van advised he wanted to complete and citizens arrest form on Levine for threats and destruction of property.
Levine was taken into custody, at which point he told deputies he was a convicted felon for DUI 3rd, assault with a deadly weapon, and battery on a peace officer. He said he had served time in Nevada and California State Prisons.
He told deputies he had been in Carson City for six years, but that he was not registered with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office as an ex-felon.
Deputies searched Levine’s person, and found in his sweatshirt pocket a glass pipe with white haze, which deputies identified as methamphetamine. They also found a small black pouch with hypodermic needles, a lighter, and a pair of tweezers.
He was booked into the Carson City Jail without incident.
Bail: $5,153
