The 25th annual September 11 Observance will take place in Carson City on Friday, Sept. 11 at the Mills Park 9/11 Memorial site, located at the N. Saliman Road entrance across from Carson High School.
The ceremony will take place near the Pavilion at the steel beam from the World Trade Center’s fallen North Tower which was donated to the city.
The Remembrance Observance is free and open to the public. Event highlights are:
- 5 p.m. Food and Beverages
- 6 p.m. Remembrance Ceremony
The public is invited to join and reflect on the attack in New York City, Arlington and Shanksville. The observance includes Prayer, Color Guard, remarks, keynote speakers, music and concludes with a public carnation laying ceremony at the steel beam.
Among representatives at the observance will be the Carson City Fire Department, Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and Carson City Mayor’s Office. The event is hosted by Calvary Chapel Carson City.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and allow time to park and enjoy refreshments at the event site.

Join Proscenium Players Inc. on Sept. 11 for an unforgettable theatrical experience that reminds us of the extraordinary humanity found in ordinary people and the enduring strength of compassion in the face of unimaginable loss.
Written in the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001, The Guys tells the story of Nick, a New York City fire captain struggling to write eulogies for the eight firefighters he lost, and Joan, a writer who volunteers to help him find the words.
Through humor, heartbreak, and quiet moments of humanity, the two forge an unexpected connection while honoring the lives of “the guys” whose courage and spirit continue to inspire. Based on the playwright’s real experiences, this powerful two-person drama is a moving tribute to resilience, remembrance, and the healing power of storytelling.
Starring Ken McIntyre and Danielle Pearson, the performance is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center’s Maizie (Black Box) Theater. Performances will also be on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. Go here for ticket information.
